I know many times the fish will swallow bait and hook completely to the point where you end up ripping out his innards. What I’ve been told and what I’ve done is a clip the line as close to the hook as possible and the fish and its body chemistry will eventually rust or deteriorate the hook completely not killing the fish. But I do know that once to gills are involved and bleeding Death is usually a given in time.

We fished the Gastineau Channel in Juneau Alaska this year for Coho's using large Mepps Spinners. We could never determine one color being better than another so we used them all (pink, yellow, orange, green, and multi color). We were there visiting my niece for a couple of weeks and between my wife and myself we caught 11 coho's, had a great time.

I don’t claim to be an expert either but I agree with a lot of what spiritof27 had to say. Go to the waters around where are you going to and talk to the other anglers go to the sporting good stores or fishing shops in the area and talk to them. If you go onto the sportsman’s warehouse website there is a place there where you can subscribe to the fishing reports for Many of the lakes and streams in your area. I wish you much luck and patience they call it fishing and not catching. And always remember your worst day of fishing is better than your best day of work.

Thanks for the heads up, as a rookie I never thought about it even though we were within a couple of miles of the town. But that would definitely be a big no-no in the wild Or anywhere bears might be. so thanks for the thoughts and the cautions. It will definitely be standing up my mind if I ever get to go back

He slept The whole time we fished that afternoon. It was like he was back in mamas womb, snug as a bug in a rug.

Had the chance to visit my nephew and niece in Juneau, AK for two weeks (Aug 24-Sept 8). It was a dual purpose visit. He is currently in the US Coast Guard station there but this is his last winter he will have to move this summer. So we wanted to see their new baby and do some salmon fishing. WOW what a great time we had new baby and fishing beyond may expectations. Our first day was amazing we hit the salmon jackpot. As you see on the tailgate of the p/u 1 Coho (silver) and 12 Humpy (pink). As we fished more the pinks dropped off but the silvers picked up. In total between my wife and I we caught 9 silvers total, and our friends caught 2 total. In one of the picks is a pile of salmon fillets we we able to land 4 on our last day of fishing. What a hoot catching these salmon were. It was the best fishing trip I ever had. Will remember it forever but health willing I am going back again.

I’ve always thought that metal detecting would be interesting. Where do you normally hunt?…🐟on

Did A lot of schools but getting harder and harder here in California due to security and terrorism. Also parks ball parks any place where people congregate soccer. Also older homes abandon homes and properties and just about any place you think somebody might’ve dropped something. when you can get permission to do it on private property

I'm new to the forum and have introduced myself and fishing but that's not my only "hobby". One of my other hobbies that I enjoy is what I call "dirt fishing".......metal detecting. I have been metal detecting since 2005 and have found much. In the first 12 months I found over $500 in change and numerous rings and things and during the next 8 months I found enough change to finish paying for my detector, about $800. I have had to slow down several times during my detecting career due to aches and pains in the knees and back which really take a beating with all the up and down digging targets. In March of this year I found my first watch, not real expensive and not working but still it was a surprise as I was digging it. I took up metal detecting when I became so frustrated with golf and my inconsistent swing. Now my swing with the metal detector is perfect.

Thanks for reading this and hope to hear from some of you and you other hobbies.

I sent 4 days at the reservoir in early July. Had just purchased a new pontoon boat in early 2021 and made my reservation to go stay and fish. What a bummer when i called a month before and found the water level was low. Well I still showed up and the water level was so low, and no boat ramps to launch and load at except the ramp the called the "bath tub". Didn't feel too confident about launching/loading in that situation so we spent the days at Upper Twin Lakes. It was disappointing but I will not give up on that lake. I love the area, the weather, the people at Paradise RV are great and the fishing.

I'm Ed form Terra Bella, Ca. ( a small ag town between Bakersfield and Visalia). Been fishing all my life but have really got the bug the last 10 years since retiring. Have had a small aluminum boat and motor since mid 80's but recently purchase a pontoon boat. I live near two lakes 1) Success Lake in Porterville and 2) Kaweah Lake in Woodlake area. Both are great bass lakes when the bite is on but very finicky other wise. Try to fish 2 to 3 days a week when I can. Seems Like I am always looking for a fishing partner and end up going by myself most of the time. But I don't let that stop me either.
