Well I stand corrected, googled Sacramento perch and there it is. Wikipedia says endangered in native habitat of CA but introduced widely in western states.

Size and shape does resemble a crappie, just not the coloring.

Wonder what the dorsal fin looks like. That could be the proof. Colors can be different because of minerals in the water or diet. But like I said I'm in Florida what do I know!

Heading up that way early Sept. Stopping in Lone Pine, Bishop, & Upper Owens on the way up then onto Lee's Ferry, & The San Juan River in NM and back through Show Low, AZ on the way home. Should be back home mid/late October.
Me and the dog in the motor home.

Never fished the reservoir but I’ve enjoyed hours of catching rainbows in the Walker river with Panther Martins

I use to go down there and fish Robinson Creek back when the trout limit use to be 10 a day. I would take 2 guys with me that weren't very good fishermen and near the end of the day they always wanted me to finish out their limit for them. It was a win, win. We would come back with 30 fish and I got to catch most of them usually.
When we got back home, I would clean all of them and keep MAYBE 2 or 3 of the biggest fish and let them have all the rest. They always wanted me to take them fishin. Guess that must have been nearly 40 years ago or more. Sure doesn't seem that long ago.
