No question about live shrimp versus frozen, however, when live shrimp die in your live well and you have no more live there isn't any difference from frozen to newly dead ones. Also, a new fisherman without a boat/live well may have trouble keeping shrimp alive. THAT is the reason for my first response.
1. Use bait so you aren't skunked.
2. After #1 switch to artificials that closely resembles what worked with #1.
Good luck.
Bait shop will have live and frozen. If you use frozen they are much less expensive at Wal Mart. Same for frozen squid. Besides you can pretty much choose what size.
Also, take it out frozen tucked into a fine mess bag (panty hose foot) and use it to attract fish. Use LESS stinky bait to fish with.
Welcome. What has been your best day fishing?
The Super Duper has worked well for me as has the Mepps on size 0 or 1. All of them.
Have you used live shrimp or squid? Worked for me.
Because you can. Also, Ray's are delicious.
There is a charter capt out of Pensacole that posts u tube videos by the name of Angler up. He shows the lures, bait and methods he uses. That should give you a good idea for your area.
If you WANT a new fly rod then this one is all worn out! If you aren't really wanting a new rod and this one still catches fish then it's just fine. That's why I have trouble explaining to my wife why I NEED a new rod. ;)
Look on the rod itself. It will state line weight. Match your line with what the rod shows. If you choose braid you can use heavyer line. I have used spinning reels with 12# line and Penn 209 reels with 20# line. If you choose braid line you can go a bit heavyer. Just go out and have fun.
3 day license isn't that expensive. Also, think about a 1/2 day charter. They will show you how to fish, provide all the gear and you will enjoy it. On some charter boats charter fee will cover your license. Good luck!
When I lived in Port Orchard I liked Moses Lake area. There is some good fishing in a bunch of the lakes over there.
Moses Lake is in eastern Washington
