Headed up to the big lake yesterday w my two of my best friends. We had lots of laughs and got 18 of some real nice eating size walleyes. We went out if cranberry creek and jigged using hair jigs mostly in purple colors. Boat owner and myself got our limit in about 3 hours and other buddy was short by 4 fish so we decided to troll back west toward the ramp to pick up the rest of his fish. Worked out perfectly as we got his last fish straight out from the marina at cranberry. Great time water is getting warm so I think the jig bite is about over with. Took my dad some of the fillets and some yellow sponge morels and that made his day. Catching was a bonus but spending time w friends and sharing the bounty w the person who taught me how to do it made for a great day.

What do you do with your carp? What does Wendy's do with them?

He said he gives them to people who work at Wendy’s not actually giving them to Wendy’s

Went carping in 70 degree Carnegie Lake this evening during a sunny, cool nor’easter. Threw out a can of corn 🌽 for chum, then caught a 6 lb common carp on my first cast for this year. Then caught a 14 lb common carp on my second cast. After catching a white sucker, I landed a 10 lb common carp on my last cast. As I walked to my car with my rods and bucket 🪣, a young woman went to my fishing 🎣 spot, knocked over my bucket of fish 🐠, then tried to kick the fish back into the lake. I returned before she was successful. NJ people suck. I gave the four fish to Wendy’s. A fisherman from Virginia netted my two biggest fish. I used my last can of whole kernel corn 🌽 from last year.

Very nice catching but when you say you took it to Wendy’s that’s a person and not the fast food chain correct? Because if you took it to our Wendy’s no one there would know what to do with it lol

I finish up my grandsons mount today
I cut the board out of walnut
I boiled the skull in peroxide and some of the small bones got brittle.
He was hurting with me and and it was his first deer. The empty shell is the actual shell that he shot it with and the arrow head is one I napped out.
Going to be his Christmas gift.

Looks awesome mike well done and I’m sure he will be smiling. I did this one last year and put the light in it. Thinking maybe next year make some small trees out of pvc and use these as the topper.

I’ve become a little lazy over the years and use Scott’s brine. I’ve smoked fish from Alaska cold smoking to CA on Traeger. I’m always sure that once the fish is rinsed from the brine it has plenty of dry time prior to the smoker. Half the fish is smoked plain and the other half gets brown sugar added to the top as the smoking process is going. Just finished a batch last weekend of Sockeye salmon, German Brown and Rainbow trout.

Wow that looks so good almost but my phone. I’ve got some lake trout from this summers vacation. I’m gonna try smoking some and I’ll report back w results

I’m sure that will help a lot if they do I’ve heard of bounties on hogs and coyotes are helping some places my nephew lives to hunt so he takes care of all the critters around here to keep the turkeys alive and well

Yep I try and help out the ones that can’t help themselves that goes for people as well as the animals.

Wow that’s a bruiser too bad there is no season. We have a major problem w our Turkey population they are quickly disappearing as coons fox bobcats opossum are all feasting on the eggs in the nest. Reason no one traps because if the lousy fur prices. Heard some scuttle of a possible bounty system that would be great

Ohio is one Buck per year. Then the amount of does you can harvest is based on what county the deer are harvested from. Not sure how many is allowed by him but around me the deer are considered urban and you can harvest up to 5 die I think. Or at least that’s how many 12 years ago when I last hunted.

Yep we are in the 3 deer zone but only one of the 3 can be antlered over 3” so now I have two doe tags left.

Well if you remember or saw my post last week of me filling my tag I mentioned of trying to help my dad get his buck. I attached a pic of a big spilt brow buck. This time of year things can change daily as the we get closer to the rut. That being said this other buck showed up Tuesday and while dad was on stand he watched from a distance them shoving each other around pretty heavily. Forward to this morning we had a heavy rain so I went around 11:00 checked cameras and saw the new buck heading into bedding area. Called dad told him I’d bet he’s be back thru same way he went in this morning and he came right back around 5:30 and my dad made a great shot and deer expired quickly in about 75 yards. Real dandy 5x6 or 11 pt however it’s a stud[/quote

WOW, what a nice deer.
My congrats to your Dad.
That's just awesome you got him on that buck. Good job brother. 🤠👍
Thanks saw yeah after all that he taught me over the years it feels real good to pay him back w a buck of this magnitude.

Went on the willow island pool of the Ohio River yesterday. Caught 6 walleye some hybrid stripes and white bass biggest walleye was around 19” and my buddy got his PB white bass a 2 pounder. I used my cast net and got some really nice shad and we fished them live on a Carolina rig. We fished around pleasant power plant discharge. That’s the power plant where 51 construction workers lost their lives when the cooling tower scaffolding collapsed. That was in 1978.

Sounds like a great day and some good eating. Congrats
