Good luck with the fishing! We’ve had some warm days, but the wind just doesn’t want to quit! The lake is low and we could really use some rain, but the winds are high and our roof is losing shingles at an alarming rate. Looking forward to better weather soon, fingers crossed.

Do you have a tip for the newbies checking out the FS and a refresher for the old timers?

Here are a few i can think of.

1st is read the rules and be kind on your replies.

2nd Keep the personal information in the PM section. This site is nation wide.

3rd Narrow down your fishing location not just bla bla river by the dock.

4th When you respond to a post use the quote reply, helps to follow the post easier.

5th Keep the politics on other sites.

6th When you ask for information a Thanks would be appreciated knowing the information that took time to share was received and read.

Thanks for posting…if I‘m guilty of breaking any of these rules/common courtesies it was done inadvertently. As for #3 I try not to be overly specific because of #2 (if I am fishing by myself I don’t want to advertise my specific location on a nationwide site for safety reasons). I don’t respond to private messages because I wouldn’t want my husband private messaging other women, regardless of how innocent the topic. I think it would show a lack of marital respect. I enjoy scrolling through and reading posts but don’t always comment because I usually assume my two cents is not worth much. And after reading this you may agree that it’s not lol! I have received some good advice from people here and hope I have voiced my appreciation each time, if I haven’t I sincerely apologize!!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions. I tried to get out again Sunday morning after getting the trailer all hooked up and ready to go but all I could think about was how long the drive home was and how I really should be on the road before the rain started and the wind picked up. I was too stressed to enjoy fishing and couldn’t get my husband to agree that I should add another day to my trip lol So I fished for maybe an hour but didn’t catch anything. The water/weather was very different Sunday than it was Thursday, I’m not sure how much of a factor that is? Anyway, appreciate all the advice, will have to google some terms but I’m sure it will come in handy soon enough! Thanks!!

Hi Lynnz,
Take a picture of the section of river you want to fish as well as your tackle box and perhaps we can recommend something? You did not get skunked, so you are better off than some of us 😂

This is what I’ve got, anything useful? I caught that little guy with the pop it. I do have a white rooster tail so I’ll give that a go. I really have a hard time getting those tri hooks out though and God help me if I were to hook a catfish. I don’t know how to unhook one for sure. Guess I’ll see if I can find a you tube of someone taking one off a hook just in case! If I research it I’ll never catch one and if I don’t, I almost certainly will

If you have any a small rooster tail or similar lure will catch bass, gills, crappie and catfish

Thanks CamT, I think trees have caught most of my rooster tails but I’ll have to dig around and see if I have any left! If not, I’m sure I have something similar.

Sorry to hear Ivey. I hope it clears up soon and you can get back to fishing, and more importantly, seeing that grandson of yours. Prayers for a speedy recovery!!

Lol! Out camping with the girls and went for a walk. Surprised to find out we are right across from the Paluxy River so I grabbed a rod and and snuck away for an hour just to see if I could catch anything. Found me a spot to fish from and realized I didn’t have any weight on my line. Did the best I could in the short amount of time I had. Wish I would’ve grabbed my tackle box and got out there earlier. Also wish I really knew how to fish cuz I know they’re in there laughing at me! It’s too windy now, but may try again before it’s time to pack up and head home. Anyone want to help a gal out with some advice? Like what kind of lure would YOU use? Is there a right time of day to go fishing? Hopefully I’ll get another shot at it if the weather cooperates:)
