When you say fresh water salmon, are you speaking of King, Coho, or Chinook that run upstream from lakes wherein they were stocked? I have fly fished on the Salmon, Pulaski, and Genesee Rivers in Upstate New York. In the Fall I used a salmon egg fly and strike indicator. In the Spring, trolling on the lake, I have used glow spoons and neon D.B. Smelt. Trolled fast and using a downrigger at the depth of temperature break.

I am in the process of trying to purchase a 70 or 80 lb trust used Minn Kota trolling motor. I realize that I will need two 12 volt batteries to power these 24V units. I like the AGM concept but wondering what others use or would recommend. I can't afford Lithium battery or I'd get one of them. Trolling motor will be used a lot with Spot Lock. I probably fish about 6 hrs. per day and would like to purchase batteries that would last that long. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I was just reading the most recent Fishermens magazine. A lithium-ion battery was listed at $2100.00. That is insane.

I remember when Snow Mass mountain area and Beaver Creek were protected wilderness areas. I witnessed wild Brook trout spawn in the riffles of streams. So many you could've grabbed them by hand.Marble Colorado was an annual two week vacation. Back packe by horse from Marble up and over to fish Lake Geneva. It often still had ice on half of it in July. Absolutely God's country, wildflowers, and hundreds of hummingbirds. I get so sad seeing the travel packages to developed ski country now. One trip, while on horseback, at about 11,ooo feet, the mist was lifting out of a bowl meadow. There were about fifty Elk, mostly cows with a few young bulls and a giant, monster size Bull leading the herd. They were like ghosts that early in the morning.

Years ago used Georges River Outfitters. FANTASTIC!Salmon, Lakers, and Brookies. Bears, wolves, and Caribou. Northern Lights, Peaceful and quiet. Food was excellent, although I ate the fish I caught morning, noon and night. Guides are friendly, helpful and very knowledgable. Went last few days of July into the first week of August. On August 3rd, we had a raging blizzard, so cool.

We drove to Montreal, then flew to Schefferville. From Shefferville, flew to outpost camp in an Otter float plane. I do not know if still operating. Things have changed. Georges River Caribou herd was at 800,000 head, now down to about 10% of that. Sport shows at convention centers offer great deals withseveral outfitters to choose from

Who’s a good outfitter to take a flying fishing trip to Canada? And do you need a passport?

Hi All - just joined and happy to find this site. I’m an avid kayak angler - primarily bass on freshwater, but I do go for stripers 1-2x year via a charter with friends. I also do a lot of local and regional tourneys. Got into this addiction about 6 years ago.

Haven’t been out yet and wondering what water temps are lately?

Cheers!

Water temps at Boston Harbor and off Nantasket Beach were at 48 to 49 degrees. However, we had two 90-degree, bright sunny days so the surface temps are a couple of degrees warmer. When thatslightly warmer surface water hits the beach, who knows, flounder bite turns on?

NEWPORT ELECTRIC MOTOR. Check their website out. They have an electric kayak motor, one at 1,8 hp equivalent and one at 3hp equivalent. 900 to 1200 dollars. I am saving up for one.

Has anyone tried one of the new RUNCL spinning reels. Just got mine in, smoothest turning reel I have owned. Looks like a quality reel and the black finish, impeccable. I use Penn reels and this is about 1/3 the price. If it as good as I hope it will be it will be my go to reel

I received my RUNCL Waders. They sent me a size five. I wear a size 12-1/2. I contacted RUNCL and they told me that I must have ordered the wrong size. (I may Have??) I said May I return them andd have the correct size shipped to me. NOPE! Terrible customer service. I spend a lot of $$$ every year on fishing gear; both Salt & Freshwater. RUNCLE is not getting a penny, nor any positive commentary or recommendations to my many angler friends and boat owners.

if that's a recent catch it's outside of the slot and should have been released.

About 13 years ago I caught a 52-pound Striper at Jeffries Ledge out of Salem Harbor. It was Father's Day.

Do you have a temperature and speed sensor ? Lake Ontario fish stay in temperature and it varies with depth sometimes 100 ft down and when get deeper speed down there is different than boat speed.

I have fished Lake Ontario via trolling. Have used Flashers with three to four-foot leaders and a spoon on the end. Have caught up to 40lb Kings, brown trout, and rainbows too. Fished the Salmon and Pulaski rivers in the Fall run. CRAZY! I have lost more than I have landed.
