I am in the process of trying to purchase a 70 or 80 lb trust used Minn Kota trolling motor. I realize that I will need two 12 volt batteries to power these 24V units. I like the AGM concept but wondering what others use or would recommend. I can't afford Lithium battery or I'd get one of them. Trolling motor will be used a lot with Spot Lock. I probably fish about 6 hrs. per day and would like to purchase batteries that would last that long. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

I am moving up to a 24V system. I have a Minnkota Terrova. Minnkota says minimum 100Amp hour batteries for best results. I am looking at Optima bluetops. Ben, how many amp hours are your batteries rated for? Obviously enough, but want to get max performance.

I use these on my kayak to power a MinnKota trolling motor and a Garmin fish finder. I can use the kayak for at least eight hours with the trolling motor running the entire time. Trolling and spot lock, and the battery still has more power to spare. I actually bought the set of two batteries. I couldn’t be happier with their performance. I highly recommend them.

Do you really need that size trolling motor on a kayak?

They do make 25 volt batteries. Most are over $100.00 but Auto Zone sales theirs for $97.00.
I personally use 2 - 12 volt Marine batteries from Walmart.

Probably not, but it’s the motor that was on the kayak when I purchased it last year. Like the saying goes, if it ain’t broke don’t fix it.
