Hey, everybody, here in California, the last Saturday in April (when general stream fishing season opens) came a little earlier; we didn't have to wait until the 28th or 30th.
I went to the closest spot; my regular go to for local stream fishing. It's a 130 mile round trip for me, but hey, you do what ya gotta do. I've fished these waters, the East Branch of the Russian River that feeds into Lake Mendocino, for 20 plus years; I have it dialed in the hatchery fish that are in there.
So here's today's catch/limit; I've caught bigger and fatter fish, but these all jumped when hooked and put up a decent to good fight. I was the first one on the water, at first light, so I went to my chosen spot, where the fish tend to pool up. Got my limit in about an hour, and then turned a couple of other guys who showed up onto where the fish were and what they biting on (bait, not lures).
Home by 9:30 and will fire up the smoker tomorrow.

I have been watching this "fishing stage" for a couple of years now. Watched it grow from just dozen posts, or so, to what it is today! It's obvious that there is great cross section of "fishermen"
from all over the country, and the amount of various topics is amazing!
However, being from the Pacific Northwest, I am, just a little, disappointed in lack of posting from
the N.W.! - We have some "world" class lakes with trophy size rainbow trout! We have hundreds of miles of ocean coast line with some of the best eating in the world! There are as many "techniques"
as there fishermen! - Just saying; come on guys, let's hear from you!

Started out little windy, was 45 in the morning, warmed up to 80, stared out on the point where I’ve been hiking to, caught a couple there, moved on to where I’ve been catching a lot of Small Mouth, sure enough caught a couple good ones! Meet a fellow fisherman he was camping on his house boat, his name is Greg! I gave him some of the senkos I’ve been catching most of my fish with, sure enough Greg caught a nice Small Mouth! He was very thankful, real nice guy! Had a real fun day! If everything works out I’m heading to the Antioch Marina tomorrow to fish the delta and try and catch some large mouths!

Well guys, tomorrow is the start of a busy week.
