Alright alright alright. A lot of you already know who I am, but for those who don't, I've been on the Fishing Stage since August of 2019. I was born and raised in northern Indiana in the woods and corn fields just outside of South Bend. Yes I am a Irish football fan. Left there in 1968 to join the Navy and I've never been back except for short visits. Mrs Spirit and I settled in San Diego in 1976 and I retired from the Navy a Chief Electronics Technician in 1989. Took a job with Hewlett Packard in 1998 and we moved to central California and here we be. I retired for good from that job last year in September. I have fished all over California, fresh and salt. I get over to the coast about a half dozen or so times a year to fish for surf perch and eat oysters on Tomales Bay. I do not fish for bass unless I go with a bass fisherman. I target trout almost exclusively. I used to do a lot of fishing for catfish. I have not caught a trout since December of 2019. I'm familiar with most of the lakes in the Sacramento area and the mountains to our west and east. If you want information on any if these, give me a buzz.

So after I said all that and blew my horn like some kind of expert, you come up with two lakes I've never even heard of, much less fished. I know they're both over 5000 feet so I'm supposing they hold trout and small mouth bass. I'm a big fan of exploring new water - go fish em and then you can let all of us know. I'd suggest that if you haven't already, go post and ask the same question and introduce yourself on the "main" page. There are a lot of folks on here from SoCal and they're always looking for places to fish. And welcome to the FS. We love photos!

Hi everyone. I primarily fish for trout and occasionally strippers in fresh water. Love to fish the eastern Sierra lakes but haven’t done it for the last couple of years. Hope to get up to Collins Lake in about a month. Like salmon and rock cod fishing out of Monterey and Half Moon Bay. Sadly due to the pandemic and projects around the house haven’t been out for about a year and a half. Tight lines everyone.

Ok, my turn. I’m a wanna be fisherman and live in Folsom Ca. I’m retired and have been wanting to get back to fishing like my brother showed me 50+ years ago. Always been trout, lake and stream.
Spirit and I have connected offline only, not in person, but he is a wealth of information and just a cool guy in general.
So far all of my time in retirement has been remodeling my home but I swear I’m gunna get out there. Season opened April 1st!
If anyone wants to entertain me heading out, I’m in. But fair warning, I’m fifty years green.
Greg

I grew up in N.J. and spent most of my summers and weekends fishing and hunting at a house my father built at Upper Greenwood Lake. After being discharged from the Army in '69 I wandered around a bit living in Aurora and Boulder Co., and Ames and Nevada Iowa. One Christmas my brother invited me to come visit him in Davis, Ca. where he was attending school. When I left Iowa it was 10 degrees, when I pulled into Davis there were oranges growing on peoples lawn. The East Bay has been my home ever since. I fish mostly San Pablo Res. for trout now (got two last week). I fished Amador for 10 years, Berryessa many years ago, and the East Bay shoreline from Oakland to Port Costa (the Berkeley Pier closing is a fishermans nightmare). I used to go out party boat salmon fishing 1-2 times a season, but I haven't been out in 5 years now.

Greetings! I really wanted to take my kids to Piru but have limited experience in regards to that specific lake. Do we need a license for 1 day? What is the best bait and line strength. We'll be happy to catch anything! Thx

You're in a great spot. Right on Rollins - this time of year it's great for trout and small mouth. And Scott's Flat is just a stone's throw - browns, bows, Kokanee, smallies. And Collins. Go get em.

Hope that helps. I've never fished there, but it looks and sounds like a great place. If I was going to take kids I'd dunk some inflated worms or power bait. Kick back, let the kids play and wait for em to bite. If you need any information on how to do that, let me or the other folks on here know.
