Nice fish! How do you rate the wiper as far as eating?

We took the kids to the pond today. We used worms but didn't get a bite but the kids had fun and lasted about 45 minutes. They were somewhat entertained by watching the carp surface. After two years of trying I've never had a bite. The ponds are very muddy. If I put in a lure after about 5-6 inches I can't see it. I'm beggining to think there is nothing but carp in there. I've tried different colors and a chatterbait. Nothin!

But the kids had fun and nobody got hooked. The 3 yr. old boy peed outside for the first time. And then the 5 yr. old girl had to do it. Now they're ready for camping.

This might help, tie your line just to the hook. You can use a sinker up the line if you need to. Add a bobber and some bee moths and the kids should be able to catch a bluegill or two. And I’ve caught bass on bee moth before. Good luck and thanks for teaching kids to fish!

When the salmon run, go to the creek that flows behind Burger King and the church across us 30 at Rt 2 and 30. I’ve had my hook straightened there once. Never landed one. It’s not heavily fished but I’ve seen fish that look like submarines coming upstream. You can park right by the creek at the church. Kind of a secret place. Since I don’t live nearby anymore, the secret is out! 😎

Where the best places to get nice crappie or blue gills

Any lake or retention pond will hold bluegill. A small hook and a bee moth will work just fine, just about anywhere. Start dunking….

You my not believe it. But the White River is a great place for catfish. 15-20 years ago would not have said that. It’s clean and the fishing is good. You can get access along White River Parkway off of 16th street. Even south of Washington Street is some good fishing

Is there still or was there a do not eat warning for White river near Indy? I’m still pretty new here too.

Hello all! New guy in the Valparaiso, IN area. I do most my boating on Lake Michigan out of Michigan City, and have a small bow rider that I use for inland lakes. I grew up fishing on Lake Tippy, but lost my skill over the years. Now my youngest son discovered fishing and wants to go out often, but our attempts have been a bit sad.

Hoping to pick up on some good places for blue gill, and maybe get some tips on how to find and actually catch bass these days, as my old technique with rapala lures doesn’t yield much action.

Rogers Lakewood park to start with. Check Valpo parks web site, I think they are having a teach a kid to fish day soon. I believe next Sat is a DNR free fishing day also.

My 92 year old dad is in Indy/greenwood, we still fish together. But not a lot of places to go other than pay lakes without a drive.

Only place I’ve fished around there is Boone Pond. It’s a DNR property. Not totally comfortable there fishing alone so you know. Just North West of I65 and 267.

I’m in Monticello Indiana getting away from the grind for a few days. I didn’t bring my kayak with me because of the weather forecast. I’m searching for a good place to shore fish on Lake Freeman and or surrounding lakes.

Try below the dam on Shaffer or Oakdale

I recently watched several YouTube videos about a young boy, in a foreign country, catching fish in various ways using a home made dough bait. In one video he even mixed it up with water from the river, but they never showed what it consisted of?
So I'm asking your advice on a good catch all type fishing dough
Thanks 👍

I use to mix molasses and bread for my carp bait. Not the best to stay on the hook, but it caught carp.
