We took the kids to the pond today. We used worms but didn't get a bite but the kids had fun and lasted about 45 minutes. They were somewhat entertained by watching the carp surface. After two years of trying I've never had a bite. The ponds are very muddy. If I put in a lure after about 5-6 inches I can't see it. I'm beggining to think there is nothing but carp in there. I've tried different colors and a chatterbait. Nothin!

But the kids had fun and nobody got hooked. The 3 yr. old boy peed outside for the first time. And then the 5 yr. old girl had to do it. Now they're ready for camping.

Well at least the GK's were entertained! Maybe target the the carp next time, even if it's C&R--that way the kids get to experience the tug?

Sorry to hear that Ed, but at least they had fun. It's a nice looking pond, there should be some other fish besides Carp in there. Maybe they hang around a different part of the pond. If that's the only spot you can fish from, try some live shiners under a bobber. The vibration they give off when trying to escape with draw any fish to the area. Thanks for the picture.

Might take a page out of Bands book and chum with a can of corn and then use a piece of corn on a gold hook under a bobber.
Works great for him.

It's worth a try if chumming is legal there.

Yeah. I'm not sayin to use chum if it's not legal.
I'm pretty sure none of it's legal here in California.
But what IS legal here except DRUG USE !

That's funny Saw. While we were watching the carp I was telling my wife about Bands chumming and fishing with corn. When we got home she went to the pantry and handed me a can of corn.

Well alright. Now check and make sure you can chum, and if so, go catch some

I am gonna look into it. If I were to catch a carp what would I do with it?
Gold hooks?

If you don't have somebody that would want it, I would release it.
