OK The easiest access is near the mouth. There are some good spots, mostly on the north bank. Everything is too high right now. There should be steelhead moving, Salmon will star in March. There is also good access on the Willamette from Meldrum Bar Park.
I use Ugly sticks and have for a long time, I have bought them for my grand kids, I've caught a lot of fish on mine & that's kind of the point.
It kind of depends on what you want to fish for and how you want to fish. There are salmon that come into the Clackamas as well as steelhead. There is also trout fishing. It makes a difference whether you are going to bank fish or use a boat.
