In talking with a very good friend of mine he pointed out that one of the more contentious persons on this site mentioned, complained, that this is a fishing site and other views and opinions should be relegated to other venues. This is a sentiment that I have seen off and on over the time I have been here and which I would like to answer with my opinion.
First, as far as fishing is concerned I have learned more in the last 4 years on this site than I learned in the entire time of my previous fishing career of 63 years. Knots, baits, lures, flies, rods reels, boats and equipment as well as where to’s and how to’s and why to’s. The wealth of knowledge and experience shared here is phenomenal.
Second , with regard to other views and opinions I would say that this is a site made up of thousands of people around the country and while many of the thousands don’t enter into the various conversations that arise here we can only hope that all who read will come away with good feelings. We are people who share a common interest which is fishing but there is more to life than that. There is more to all of us than that and this site has provided us with a place where we congregate and share our lives with another in an attempt to join in a wider community for support and caring and just outlooks and views on life. Much the same as we do when we are sitting with each other casting, trolling, swatting bugs or getting skunked. For many of us it has become an extended family offering support for the trials we all go though as well as others who can share our joys and happiness when the good things of life come our way. It is an amazing group of people.
Last but not least, there have been grumblings with regard to the Administration person or persons who maintain and keep this site open. In this regard let me just say that primarily this is a business for him and as his business he must run it as he sees fit. We can disagree with his policies and practices but in the long run I think Admin has done a phenomenal job at providing this website for us who use it who come from such a wide variety of backgrounds, beliefs lifestyles.
The Fishing Stage is more than just entertainment and learning it has become, for me, almost a home. Thank you all and may God richly bless each and every one.

There have been a few on the site who have weighed-in about this being a fishing site when they disagree with comments, and then they will later post a non-fishing related post. Sometimes you just need to consider the source.
I too have learned a lot on this site. Especially saltwater related because I am landlocked here in Illinois. I’m often fascinated by what they catch and find myself looking stuff up to learn more.
I might be addicted to this site😁. I believe the folks on this site are pretty much an extended family.

The stage is a social networking site whose topic is fishing. That being said, I think it is great we can learn about each other's personal life, families and lots of stuff about different parts of the great country. There are 2 topics of controversy, politics and religion. That's what the attic is for. In politics you're either conservative or liberal. We are Christians or not. Both are great discussion topic.

I haven't said much about fishing That's because I am just a novice fisherman. I know fishing from a boat is lot more productive than from the bank. But I don't have a boat and friends with boats forget to take with them

I am going with Jer here and have been considering those sources for sometime now. There are so many positives with this site that far out weighs the negatives.

I may post a fair amount, but that is me and just enjoy communicating with so many like minded people.

I agree with all of you very well
put, I do more posting in the attic of late because I try to follow Amins rules. I get out of my lane as some say it and usually get redirected promptly.

I do enjoy the comerodery along with friendly banter.

I for one enjoy the different topics all the funny stuff and the sharing of joys and concerns. RJS stories. Along with the vast amount of information that is shared fishing and non fishing. And the making of friends that we will probably never meet face to face.

The simple answer for those that do not like the content or format is to leave The Stage and find something that fits into their life and wishes better. I think the diversity- experience, age, location, gender and much more - is what makes this space special.

You are so correct Mike this site is phenomenal and informative. If we all had the same thoughts, wants, feelings, and opinions life would pretty dull. I believe

Excellent synopsis of this site Wulffy. I joined during the lockdown, and found so much more than I was looking for. You all have become a family to me, and I thank you from the bottom of my heart for accepting me into your lives.
Anyone who doesn't want to hear anything but fishing info can easily delete all the other sections of the site. No one is forced to read everything on here, because this is a free country. If you don't like it, don't read it, very simple.
I feel privileged to have met some of you in person, and am hoping to meet many more. Thanks for being here for each other, and God bless you all.

I learn a lot from you, Mike. I consider you a friend and hope to meet you someday, but if that doesn’t happen, I will still be supporting and learning from your adventures.

Very well said Wulffy. Like others have said if they don't want to be a part of that conversation all they have to do is move on to a different thread 👍. Y'all have a wonderful day 🤪

Unlike our birth family we get to pick this family 👍.

Everyone here is free to leave or ignore any topic.
Don't be the family member that comes to the reunion just to Wizz on everyone else's fun time.

If you don't like this site but engage with FB I know how much crap is there

I live my life believing if you don't like me that's fine.
Just walk away n don't engage me with nonsense.
I feel the same way about this site.

The sharing n caring I've witnessed here is not found everywhere 👍😊
