The water way is so shallow either side of the main channel , especially during low tide, that it can be very frustrating at times. I use a pedal powered kayak but also run a 2.3 hp Honda to get me from here to there faster. I keep an eye on my fish finder depth readout while I’m motoring with the outboard. Any depth 2 feet or less I pull up the motor. There are times when I even pull up the pedal unit and move around with a pole. It’s not that I’m complaining about the fish… there are fish. But it would be nice to find deeper water without being in the channel.
I wonder if Virginia and South Carolina have the same mindset
Thanks. Maybe I should just sell it (probably not worth much) being that I don’t fresh water
fish anymore
I have a fly rod I’ve had for years. I was wondering if I should use it while fishing the inter coastal waters of North Carolina . Or would this be mistake especially if I hooked into a big red. It’s a pretty old pole with no markings. It looks to be made of wood with a veneer coating.
I think I asked this question last year but this is a new year. Does anyone know if the state is expanding the season and the daily limit or is it going to stay the same disappointing way it was in the 2022 season.
From what I read online of the coastal fishing regulations there appears to be no flounder fishing at all this year. Is this correct ?!!
Have you ever tried one of the many Gulp baits. I ask only because I happen to have some with me
What fish should I be targeting and certainly good eatin ones..
Thanks for your insight . Yup have an anchor trolly, and just installed an anchor wizard. Probably just use the trolly with my anchor pole. I’m trying to get there . I’ll end up with any bunch of gadgets and no fish…. but I’ll have fun
Thanks I’ll ck them out. This is exactly the help I need in choosing a rod and reel
Fishing from a kayak in the inland waterway way North Carolina . Think I should be looking at a 6 to 6.5 foot rod with a somewhat short handle. I think I want to look for a 2500 to 3000 reel which will accommodate 30lb braid.
Sound good or what do you think.
Sounds like good info.... , we had a change in date instead of February we’ll be there March/April.... thanks to all
It’s always good to be prepared..... it’s never to early. Being it’s almost exactly a year away , then what is being caught now
