I get seasick. I get ginger pills from Walmart or GNC if you are fancy. Take two every 3-4 hours and you will feel fine and burp a lot. Kinda tastes like Chinese food. The old timers on the Grand Strand are telling me that until the ocean gets to 65 degrees you are just enjoying a brisk day at the beach. Ocean temp today is 55 Degrees. The inshore guys are doing well from boats.
I think you just need a few. But if you want to learn more, have fun. I use double uni for connecting lines. Surgeons knot for making a loop. Palomar or improved clinch for terminal tackle. I just started using a uni knot to Snell hooks. I'm not sure it matters much but it looks cool. Then I fish with my Ugly Stick. hehehehehehe!

I have used Ugly Sticks for 40 years. All advice above is good advice. All I can add is hold different rods in your hands and buy the one that feels the best. It will serve you well.
This is my 61st fishing season and my second season using braid.
Stretch , sensitivity , memory , service life etc all true and I do like.
Wind knots, basically any time braid crosses braid it turns into a death knot. Cutting my finger on my surf rigs is a pain. I like spinning reels. I'm trying a Abu Adiyat Super Strong Casting Trigger on my surf rods this year.
Do fish care? I dough it. It only matters how you wiggle your worm.
