Yeah we have landlocked coho up in Washington; mostly in the large reservoirs. In my humble opinion they aren’t as good as Kokanee but better than trout.

I bleed all of the fish I keep. Small pair of scissors under the gill plate and toss ‘em in a bucket of water. Ice fishin’ you might have to refresh the water once in a while to keep it from freezing. Bleeding leaves the fish flavor much fresher (can’t think of a better way of putting it). Blood tastes different than flesh in anything you eat. Good luck

Potholes reservoir and the Columbia river near Hanford Reach are popular spots as well as Banks Lake. Potholes is on my bucket list but my hips are shot so I don’t know how much small boat fishing is in my future. Welcome to the forum and good luck; maybe we can get together sometime.

Backpacks are all the rage right now. I have been using them for years. Convenient, you can wear it or put it on the floor, and you can get them at thrift stores cheap! Then I just swap out the plastic cases based on what kind of fishing I’m doing and I’m in business.

I was using a back pack before it became fashionable. I’ve used several actually; all from my local Goodwill/thrift shop. Why buy new when “broken in” works just as well! I have several plastic cases that I swap out depending on the circumstances and I’m good to go.

Yeah stick with nymphs and fish them on the bottom. Not much hatching right now; some, but not a lot. The nymphs spend the winter on the bottom getting ready to hatch in the Spring (or whenever their cycle is up). Good luck

I like JB Weld 2 part epoxy. Need a minimum of 50 degrees (55 is better) and 24 hrs cure time. Toughest part is finding the leak but several good suggestions already here. Clean up the leak and surrounding areas pretty good (bare metal) and smear it on. It will hold up much longer than 5200 - which is a good product just not the best choice for this application.

My Stryker 4 arrives Friday. My first electronics since I sold a boat 20 years ago. They’re SO much different than they were back then; hope I have it figured out by Spring! I’ll be following this thread over the next few days.

Caught more than a few fat rainbows in the Yakima river with both GRHE and Pheasant Tail (with and without bead head). Excellent general purpose flies...

Just like Jeremy, I used to dip smelt in the Cowlitz but when Mt. St. Helens blew up it trashed the spawning beds. They’re starting to get back up to levels that allow for recreational dipping...I think we had like 3 or 4 days last year for the first time in many years. Mom used to fry ‘em when I was a kid but I’ve always preferred them smoked. Tasty!

I spent 20 doing construction staking for land surveyors in a previous life. We worked year round except when there was 5 inches of snow or more. I figured out very early that a stainless steel thermos of soup and an even larger one of coffee were essential to my survival. I have always eaten a lot of homemade soups at home so there were always left overs in the freezer. Fill the thermos with hot water and let it sit while the soup heated up in the microwave; get it good and hot; pour out the water and fill it with hot soup. It would still be plenty hot 6 hours later at lunch time. Now I do the same thing but take it fishing instead of to work!
