Pat if you would put in at Black Creek Lodge and follow it down to the river (about 5 min. run) then you're only about (2mins.) from the bay. They do a lot of speckle trout fishing in the river there. As for the bay I have no idea what they catch there. I'm all fresh water fishing. Just thought I'd give you a spot to get to the bay and somewhere to fish quickly. Bill
Miller's is in Harold some where about 5 miles east of Milton. They charge $100 a year to launch there. It's about 4 miles up river from HWY 87. Rich I'm having a heart operation this coming week or I would offer to show you some of these landing. Give me a couple of weeks and get back with me and I'll give you a tour of Yellow River. Good luck and I hope you catch tthem. Bill
Sir right now the little bass are tearing it up but you can pick up a decent one every now and then. Went to Miller's today and caught several 10 to 14 inchers and one about 3 pounds. Thats the way they are running.Just have to keep checking them out till the better ones start biting. Bill
First try junebug on a Texas rig. Then a crank bait. And a lot of the guys use spinner baits. Which ever you like to fish with will catch fish. Good luck.
The road across from the store in Harold will carry you to the river. In Holt, the road behind the store will carry you to the river. Ask anyone in or around the stores and they will point you in the right direction.
Yellow River is low and the little bass are biting. If you go through about 20 little ones you get a good one. It's a lot clearer above Miller's, below that it was still stirred yesterday.
Talked to one guy there that said he caught a five pounder just below the ramp on shiners. I've only been there a couple of times and mostly used junebug zoom worms. Had something on that poped my fourteen pound test. It's a fun little river to fish.
Steve you forgot we have some darn good fresh water fishing here too. Bass, bluegill, catfish etc. Being from the north end of the county we have more fresh water than salt.
Here where I live in North Fl. we're able to do what we call snatching mullet. We use 20 lb. and above line and treble hooks to catch mullet. You may catch them any where in the body so you better hold on. It's fun fishing and great eating.
BA catching them on a pole is a lot more fun than using a casting net. I use a 10' foot catfish pole and small reel. Some use fly rods. Others use rod and reel. Anyway you catch them they give you one hell of a fight. They have a couple of holes on Yellow River that they keep baited or you can bait up your own. You should try it some time.
Buddy there are a few of us here in the Pan Handle. Some of us are pure fresh water fishermen and others are salt water fishermen. Keep posting there will be others coming along.
