The BIG advantage of spinning and spin-cast reels is there is NO need to Tune for casting with any size, weight or lure.
Great for the average angler and newbies. Avoiding FRUSTATION while fishing is the key. NOBODY enjoys untangling and cutting a birds-nest while fishing. Baitcasting requires higher skill level and patience. No need for bait-casting gear when fishing for panfish. For BIG Fish, a bigger spinning reel should suffice for most situations.

Morning, Mike. I'm sure you will. Have you ever been skunked? Good luck.
Gotta think anybody who fished for years and says they never been skunked is telling some fish tails.
SKILL ? What SKILL ?? A trotline is for CATCHING; no skill needed. TRUE sportsman Fish with a ROD & REEL !
Just sayin'.
I have 3 and am extremely pleased with all ! First ordered the RUNCL Merced 3000. Liked it so much I then ordered the Merced 2000 and Merced 4000. All are excellent quality featuring 10+1 Ball Bearings. Very large line capacity: 8lb./310yd.(2000 size) 8lb./360yd.(3000 size) 12lb./370yd.(4000). A great value at a bargain price.
Why pay More ?
Believe me, NOBODY wants to see your belly. Wearing a white tee-shirt will actually keep you cooler by evaporation.
You also can wet it with water for heat relief. A hat with a full round brim helps too, wet it for better cooling.
I use one that has cord for use when it really windy. SEE MY PHOTO !
Bought the 4000 at Walmart for $12.99, new the retail pack. A GREAT price for this reliable spinning reel !
I bought NEW Shimano IX4000R at Walmart for $12.99 !
WRONG ON BOTH COUNTS !
Yellow-bellied sea snakes are native to Hawaii,
but are not a danger to people.
Ireland is among the least treed countries
with only about 10% of forested land.
PLEASE RESEARCH BEFORE POSTING ERRONOUS DATA.
Still trying to catch my first Muskie ! And any Bass over 8 lbs.
The drag setting of the reel should be set at about 1/3 to 1/2 of the line rating. Say your rod is rated for up to 14 lb.
The drag setting should be around 4 to 7 lbs. The rod should not break if the drag is adjusted to keep it under its maximum rating. Yes you could easily use up to 50 lb. line (mono or braid) if the drag of the reel is properly adjusted.
This that a Crappiegill on the right ?
