How did Walmart get all those worms to lay straight and be still enough to measure…if mine aren’t real wiggly they are not real attractive for bait??

My opinion is that farmers who hired day workers always fed the hands and it was usually a
large meal and was called dinner…lunch for me is a snack-type meal as maybe a sandwich.
Now retired both Dana and me eat a later breakfast/lunch and a bigger meal in the late afternoon
or early evening. Calling the first brunch and the later supper…
I read a study years ago that if you are in the diet mode to eat anything you wanted from early morning
and STOP eating at 4:00 pm.
The reason that it never caught on was it made no one any money so how could it work?

Veterinarians are usually above average intelligence…about 25 years ago I was the President of the Missouri Veterinary Medical Association and one of the perks were you were invited to all the neighboring states meetings with everything comped except travel…
I was invited to Indiana’s State meeting with Walleye Fishing from 6-noon then lunch and then meetings until 5:00 or so. What a wonderful idea for increasing your attendance? I wasn’t able to attend but filed the number for future reference.
We had a family member getting married in December 4-5 years later in Northern Indiana and I called their state director and told them I was going to be in Port Clinton for a long weekend and could they set me up with a guide and take me Walleye Fishing…
His immediate answer without much of an explanation was No?
NO? I asked why and his answer floored me as he said “the water is too hard to fish that time of year?”
WHAT water too hard???
Yup every thing liquid “freezes” that time of year in that location…
DUH???

GrayWulff…you are a lot more articulate than I am (AND my wife told me not to reply) but I agree with you 100% and have very little sympathy for those who complain? If they are not able to keep from opening a site that offends them then I would hope they were at least smart enough to NOT read the content that offended them in the first place?
But if all else fails the brothers and sisters on this site will let them rant and voice their opinions and we’ll love them anyway as hopefully all came to this site initially because of one common reason and that is fishing information…I like a huge lot of others open this site the first thing probably bypassing other email we should read first. I cannot wait in the morning to see what has been posted since my last visit? With Roaring River State Park and Table Rock Lake I live in the middle of fishing utopia but not able to comment much since health issues have put a damper on my participation so I get great pleasure on reading what my Forever Friends have done and are doing??
At amazes me daily when someone has a hiccup or asks for help numerous folks jump in to help him or her…
I didn’t like the new format but have learned to navigate it so all is well…
Keep the likes and dislikes coming as I still have a bunch to learn?
Respectfully Dr Chip

Greg…one of my classmates from 1965 and most of us stay in touch. Actually we have a mini get together annually and a “biggie” every 5 years and at the last biggie we had 42 attend, 35 classmates out of 87…I retired from practice in September 2012 and then did a stent as a Federal Consultant for 5 more years…
I was whining and crying about how my younger clientele were a tuff crowd as they were constantly looking at their cell phone and contradicting what ever I was attempting to explain?
Her comment was that the youth and younger generations had No Respect, No Civility, and No Shame…I thought that covered everything but today on my list I’m gonna add No Common Sense…
Selfishly, Dana and I had no children, so it’s difficult for me to understand how they get along as the majority have an Entitlement mentality. I really think I briefly had that also but my Dad changed my thought process with a belt while leaning over a bed???
Thanks for your post as it was spot on…

WOW Wow wow I’m not as impressed with how beautiful it turned out as I am with your ability to get all the pieces and parts back into the correct places and positions that it works…probably could have bought a brand new one if you had been paid for your time but a new one would never have the satisfaction of “doing it yourself!!!”
Congrats…

Dbed…euthanasia is absolutely the LAST/BEST thing that you can do for your friend…
You have fed her, taken care of her, and loved her all these years she needs your assurance
that what is about to happen is going to be okay because you have her back as she has
had yours for all these years…
And for God sakes be there with her. She has loved you, been by your side, and trusted
you for all these years so don’t just dump her off and be on your way as she needs you to
assure her that everything is right in both of your worlds…
Euthanasia is the toughest thing you learn in vet school and at many times I wished I had
never learned how…I was a 3rd year vet student when I performed my first euthanasia at the
request of a Professor that I admired and I thought about it every time I performed a euthanasia.
Fifty years later I went to visit him in Hospice and he apologized for making me perform it without
him present to support me…NO ONE is gonna give you the same option when you are lying on your
death bed for days or weeks.

Robert the other night my wife and I were watching or she was I was trying to sleep and without my hearing aids the sound doesn’t bother me but the flicker of light does…while watching I said have you noticed that all the commercials now have black actors and she said no you are wrong so I stayed awake and counted the next 11 commercials all had a black actor in each of them…
Yes I agree with your observation 100% and were all these folks previously “out of work?”

Robert…many many years ago my Grandfather was “fattening” 4 hogs to home butcher and saw them at 6pm when he fed and the next morning there was 6” of snow so all clues were covered up by the snow? And the hogs were gone?
Next he did something that I couldn’t do in a million years and that was he never told a soul…
Two years later he was in the little country store in his area and a man he knew but wasn’t really a friend came up asked if he could sit down and the first thing he asked was “did you ever find out who stole your 4 pigs?”
My Grandfather responded “Yup just did?”

I am going fishing in Winnipeg next month, how bad are the mosquitoes? Is there anything special I need to know or bring?

Dr Chip here…our camp is in NW Ontario but assume the weather is the same so
you will need a GOOD rain suit and rubber footwear to be comfortable. Mosquitoes
are as bad as you can imagine…use the highest % Deet you can find? Enjoy as will
be a trip of a lifetime…

During my undergraduate years I became good friends with a man we’ll call Ralph…he lived with his Grandparents NE of Columbia MO on a really large farm for Missouri standards and his Grandfather was a pilot and owned a small high wing aircraft that Ralph had learned to fly at a young age and had a pilot’s license…
Sooo one fall while combining he broke a gidget or gadget he needed to finish and called the local John Deere dealer who had it in stock but was closing and leaving at 5:00 since it was his grandson’s birthday and he wanted to be present…being about 20 till 5:00 Ralph said I’ll be there in 15 minutes so don’t close early…he jumped in his wife’s Mustang convertible and took off at a high rate of speed. Just as he exited to the North to cross over the interstate to the dealership when a Mo Highway Patrol red lighted him. He watched the Smokey the Bear get out and start toward him slapping his ticket book on his leg as he approach and said “okay hotrod let’s see your pilot’s license?”
So Ralph being exceedingly nervous thought I better do exactly as I was asked and fumbled through his billfold and handed the patrolman his pilot’s license just as requested…Ralph said he looked at the front and looked at the back and handed the license back to him and walked back to his car and drove off…Ralph said “I still made it to John Deere with 2-3 minutes to spare?

His name is Jim E. and he would be a high school classmate of Mike’s that got his education but stayed in our hometown and drove many miles to work everyday. Don’t know if he ever fished before Mike returned to the area but he’s now retired also and Mike is teaching him new tricks…with Mike it’s tuff to get a word in but with Jim you would have to step on his toe for him to speak?

JarHead…I’m gonna stick my neck out a little, but, that is the most meaningful, on target, understandable, and honest post that I have ever read. It fits me to a “T” and my wife (the Chief of Police in our town) really frowned when I read it to her. I’m going to see if I can copy and print it then tape it to my bathroom mirror sooo I can read it everyday I have left on God’s green earth.
Thanks, Dr Chip
