Have any of you noticed the radical change in television commercials and other programming? Suddenly, or around the swearing in of President Joe Biden, we in Texas have had a massive turnover of commercials, actors in different dramatic programs. In fact, what looks like a landslide change in only black actors getting parts across the board.
I am not opposed to any black actor, male or female, earning the right to earn a part, or a lead in a commercial. I am just curious about what looks like a landslide move. Was it due to the introduction of Black Lives Matter”, or some other event.? It is possible that that Black actors were under employed until now. I don’t know. While I may incur the wrath of others even in bringing this subject up.
Regardless of one’s ethnicity, and skill; talent should be the Ace in employment. I would be interested in other members of Fishing Forum/Stages opinions and views. I believe that it is possible this could ‘back-lash” for the advertisers. As for me and my wife, we find many, if not most commercials are pandering and silly, and this is without any blame on the ethnicity of the actors. If you have found my post to be offensive, I apologize.
So, you will find it easier to understand, I have sat in on advertising planning meetings in New York with representatives of the largest firms. Besides everything else, our firm spent many millions of dollars in advertising. You would think these Madison Avenue managers would take our business more seriously. Usually, I found their representative often had barely adequate knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and our company. I have often thought I had a better grip on their business than they did of ours! Perhaps that was just my ego working.

Hollywood does have a history if pushing an agenda, as far back as I can remember. Think of all the movies that came out right around the time Liz Taylor wanted to divorce Eddie Fischer. One after another of how divorce needed to be liberalized and more acceptable. Now we have half of marriages ending up in divorce and kids scratching there heads over where they're living next week. Then look at what's being pushed now on shows and especially commercials. Come to your own conclusions.

I don’t care who is in the commercials. I usually ignore them. I have enjoyed some of them that were taken down because someone got offended. Remember Taco Bell chihuahua?

The agenda I notice is same sex relationships selling products as they interact romantically . Also these same sex partners discussing their new drugs for sexually transmitted diseases and their ability to continue their sexual habits safely. Talk about social acceptance and engineering of society. I find it all frustrating that social behavior and its acceptance is being dictated by the fringes of our society. Just saying.

RJS, I've noticed the same flow in selection of advertisers. Another one is the introduction of younger (chilldren) that attempt to persuade us to use their products/services.

One that comes to mind is having a child in the back seat peddling a tire shop. I'm thinking of moving my business to another tire shop. I dislike back seat drivers.

Then there's the concept of only paying for what one needs. I don't know what I'll need until I need it. What a silly concept.

But you DID ask for us "to say so", soooo....yeah, must be your regional upbringing. Not the first time you have expressed such "observations".
I accept your apology and can only hope that you will someday NOT have an aversion to seeing what you consider "a marked change" in any display of diversity.
"Golden Rule" EVERY ONE AND EVERY THING, EVERY DAY...just like my late Father, the United Methodist minister, taught me....never fails to give one a perspective that otherwise would go unnoticed.

As for commercials ...I sure miss the old days when lawyers didn't advertise.
I'm getting kind of tired of hearing about Camp LeJeune, and every pharmaceutical I've ever heard of has some side effect that the manufacturer needs to be sued for.

Robert the other night my wife and I were watching or she was I was trying to sleep and without my hearing aids the sound doesn’t bother me but the flicker of light does…while watching I said have you noticed that all the commercials now have black actors and she said no you are wrong so I stayed awake and counted the next 11 commercials all had a black actor in each of them…
Yes I agree with your observation 100% and were all these folks previously “out of work?”
