Hope this is not a dumb question but I just gotta ask I hear a lot about full moon and high tides and to go fishing 3 days after or before full or new moon now does that count also like in canals rivers ponds or lake or just like saltwater...because I do hear if you go salt water fishing after full moon usually not many luck catching because well the fish were all night eating I just wanted to know if any of it true and if the full/new moon affect freshwater also

Good afternoon my fellow anglers I’m confused or maybe I’m doing something wrong but every time I use a Carolina rig or senko hook rig I always get a big bird nest even after a fix tension control brake system check my calibration when I have my bait caster on a 45 degree angle and it doesn’t continue spinning after it touches water, but I use spinner bait I don’t get bird nest...any advise I would really appreciate it..

Yeah I know the feeling here in imperial county big lakes but no fish not even trout 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ But like a wise man said to me once that’s why it’s called fishing and not catching so I’m not giving up yet I know the day will come...question which lines and lb works good for catfish or channel lakes

Welcome temo, trust me I know the feeling I use to fish at the San Diego area the lakes around the mountains but then I had to move out to Southern California in imperial valley and there’s more canals than lakes and once I moved down here I stopped fishing but then I started fishing again and woooowwww i haven’t caught anything yet there’s points where I want to give up already things go thru my head am I doing things right do I have the rigs correctly am I using the right line or leader all these thing go they my head but then again I think I started fishing at the wrong time the weather it’s to cold and water it’s to cold and the only two lakes that we have there’s not that many fish and ugh people here in imperial valley don’t get the catch and release rule 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️ That’s why there’s not that many fish like before what was once a sport of relaxation and fun now people fish just for the kill well here 🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️🤦🏽‍♂️, but besides all that I’m not giving up weather it’s getting warmer and can’t wait to get out there

Good morning my fellow anglers, is question when fishing in canals and there’s catfish from 5lb -10lb sometimes 15 pounders what fishing pole, line, and reel is recommended to use and that’s affordable I’m setting up for upcoming season, here in imperial valley they start coming out in April

How about the 10lb fluorescent blue I think that’s a good mono sometimes I don’t see it when a cast it out and water it’s pretty greenish at our lake

I have mono on about 80% of my fishing reels. For me, it has a lot of advantages for some types of fishing. I catfish a lot and most of the time-sensitivity just isn't important. The stretch also makes it more forgiving in a lot of ways. I like the way it casts and the backlashes when they happen are not as bad. I have one catfish rod that I have heavy braid on. It is a special purposes rod for flathead catfish that I am going to try and pull out of a log pile and can't afford any give. The down side on that rod is that when you get snagged if is hell to try and break off. I usually end up using the boat to break the line.

For bass fishing braid is great for top water baits. It floats and so your bait when you land it in the perfect spot stays there. I also like it for plastic worm fishing when the bass are biting very gently but most of the time I prefer hi-viz mono and watch the line for twitches.

Mono costs less and for me casts better. I keep a can of reel magic on hand and that keeps the mono relaxed and slick. I also use braid sometimes for crappie. It again offers sensitivity and will straighten out the light hooks when you snag in the brush.

If you fish a lot for several different types of fish and use all sorts of baits and techniques there is no one best line. That said I fished for 45 years with mono and caught thousand of fish.If I could only use one it would be mono but that isn't always the best...

Talk about a money pit. It's always something with a boat. Just like a house. My advice, you want to take out a boat, rent one. Let someone else take care of it and worry about where it's gonna sleep at night. Pain in the butt. I'm sure there's lots of folks on here who will disagree with me.

Lol yeah I bet thanx a lot for the advice will sure rent one better

Welcome Quinones99. Your going to get a lot of different answers with that question. I only use mono on every thing I have. Never had a problem but there are a lot better products out there

Oh nice I have mono on my reels.... sad part I haven’t catch anything yet our waters are really cold fish are really slow to eat and trout at our lakes I think county wardens are feeding them cause nobody has catch any yet and water is going to get warmer and they’re just gonna float dying but we’ll see...so that I can really say which line has work for me or which rig yet cause fishing here down south has been really slow

Like I said I like them raw just can't handle the smoked ones in the can.

Quinones - they spawn in the spring. I know you're looking for more specific information. Go to one of the lakes you're going to fish and ask the folks at the marina - they'll be able to give you better information.

Thanx a lot for the info actually it’s very helpful...I just wish I had a bass boat to go into deeper water but haven’t find one at a decent affordable price 😕
