Well I got the two Ugly Stik CATFISH 8' poles yesterday. Next is to pick reels for them. Do I go with the Quantum Optix, Shimano Bait runner, or Penn Pursuit III. I'm going to be putting Power Pro Braided 20lb line on them.

I would go with the penn pursuit iii. It’s got 5 star reviews and penn is a good brand as well.

Look into the kastking line before u purchase, well made & durable. Made in the u.s in syracuse ny definitely worth a look. Cant go wrong w a penn either

Penn reels are also made in the USA, in Philadelphia.

The time tested senator reel is made here, but its sales make up less than 1percent of the company, everything else is made overseas, imo not made in U.S

For Catfish, I'd recommend a 30lb braid with a 20 lb mono or fluoro leader. Catfish aren't line shy and the braid diameter is about equivalent to 8 lb mono. You can probably go a little lighter on the braid if you choose, but I don't think the 30lb is too much overkill.

I think you may want to also consider certain Okuma reels, such as the Avenger or Trio Baitfeeder models, which are pretty decent reels for their
price range !

Some good recommendations here. If you are looking for a spinning reel, I'd recommend the Shimano Sahara due to it's comparatively strong drag. Very versatile reels.
