Wolff207,
Glass is really not modern in my book, as after that came Graphite and now Carbon Fiber.
Depending on the quality and 'what you spend', glass can be good. It's really a personal preference
thing to me. If you can try it out before you buy would be your best bet in my opinion, and see if
you like the feel and action. As for quality and how it holds up... I have/ and had some cheap rods,
that just won't die no matter how much I abuse them:-)

Been a While but couldn't help it on this one... 34 yrs Fly Fishing and broke a $450 rod last year. Bought Cortland line, and Leo combo this year, (at Walmart none the less, as the wife wasn't so objective), 8' 5/6 and 9' 7/8 this year for a grand total of 120 bucks. Both are catching fish just like the Orvis I broke. Yes I have the option of using my better reel, but the cheapies are doing as well, and I don't have to worry to much about breaking something expensive. Another point, I'd rather spend $45.00 on a Cortland and find out it's not for me, than blow several hundred on the experiment. A lot of expensive equipment catches more fishermen than Fish!!!
Ditto, I mostly fish the North Plate and Alcova, Pathfinder res. from shore and wade now....quality time for myself and wife regardless how productive we are.
I don't think I ever figured it out either, was boat fishing downriggers then. It was also 10 yrs ago so outdated. If I remember I used to like large black mister twister with chartreuse tail and live shiners.
Also I...moved to Casper WY. from Helena MT. 10 yrs ago. Fished and camped Canyon Ferry often amongst others.

Can't say I've fished MO. Used to pass through weekly when I drove big truck years ago!
Welcome to the stage sandflea!
