If you are fishing small streams in Utah, dry flies will catch plenty of brook trout, cutthroat, and rainbows. If you find the small streams catching fish will not be a problem. They will be in the 8 to 12 inch range, but very good for dinner.

Lake Mead is a good place for bass. I have caught largemouth there, and there is a good population of stripers. They seem to run in cycles depending on the number of shad in the lake.

I will take pictures, the question would then be am I smart enough to post them? I will give it a good effort, and if they don't show up, all will know what a dummy I am with tech.

Ice is off and will give report next week. Barbie pole is in the truck. Line is about 20 years old, so that should help

I actually have both a barbie pole and a spider man pole in my garage from when my grandkids were younger, so I just might take both of them. LOL

The ice has broken up at Fish Lake and a day or two of wind will deposit it all on the shoreline allowing boats on the lake. Every year it seems some little guy or girl using a spiderman or barbie pole trolling a castmaster, catches a 30 lb Lake trout. My friend and I planning a trip this weekend and I told him to bring his grand daughters barbie pole and a castmaster with him. I am just worried that maybe that only works for little fishermen.

Back in the late ‘70’s, while living in Lawrence, we were building houses in Olathe, which is about a 30 mile drive of 4-lane Highway. My dad and I worked together, so we often rode together. One winter morning we were on our way to work after a fairly heavy snow (about 4” on the highway). It was really slick, but we were in a 4-WD pickup doing about 40 mph, when a large sedan went FLYING past us in the inside lane.Dad said “WOW, that guys sure in a hurry”. He must have been doing at least 60.
Well....less than a minute later, we saw a huge “cloud” of snow ahead and when we caught up to it, there was the sedan, sitting down in the center median facing the opposite direction, and buried in snow. Dad and I looked at each other, laughed, and drove on to Olathe. ( yeah I know; not very Christian-like) Sorry Buddy ......

It was very Christian-like. You may have kept him from killing someone

I’m 70 and my lovely wife is 65. And to be honest she doesn’t look it. Quite often when we see another woman her age that looks much older she asks me if she looks her age..... and, of course, I always give her the correct answer. And this my friends is why she never complains when I mention I want to go fishing today......

You are a smart man

A friend of mine, that caught more than his share of big fish, told me that lots of people would ask him how he catches so many, and his reply was a question back to them. "When was the last time you tried to catch one? " They just don't bite unless you have a hook in the water!! And sometimes even the slowest days there is that one that just happens to take your lure.

Welcome to the forum. I have not fished since December, but the bass should be coming on soon down in Southern Utah. April is a great month down there. Other than crappie, what else do you target?

Welcome to the forum! Love to hear about Florida fishing. The post about 80 degree temps will make some guys on here jealous. The talk this morning all over the country was about how crappy the weather is. Love to hear about any tarpon fishing you might do there. I would love to tangle with one of those
