Hey guys, this summer my family and I are going on a road trip through Utah, Colorado, and Arizona. I really love to fish and would like to be able to catch something up there. I’m pretty sure we will be fishing in small streams and rivers. What lures would y’all recommend because I’m from Texas and have no clue. Thanks to all of you!

Welcome to the Forum, Snyder. Thanks for filling everything out correctly. We have some members who are from those three states and they should be of some help. But they will have to know which fish you are going to be targeting and whether or not you are going to be towing a boat. Good Luck!

If fishing is slow in Utah..I know there was a fish farm you can catch fish and they clean them. The farm gives you a rod with line and hook has a piece of the food pellets they use that is encapsulated in clear. I went there as an 8 yr old. We caught several. They send you to whatever size you want. The fish are in a canal with sections of each size.

In arizona. Go up into the white mountains for trout. Beautiful country. Use flies or " Z rays". Bass and small mouth. Look into Roosevelt and Apache lake. Great lakes. Have fun and be careful on the roads!!

If you are going to be in the four corners area most of the rivers and small streams are trout streams so if you are a fly fisherman wooly buggers, minnow type flies or hopper patterns work well. If using lures, Panther martins, rooster tails, or Mepps, and there is always garden hackle or grasshoppers.😃 Hope your trip is great!

I agree with Graywulff. I've had my best luck with black Panther Martins and Roostertails that match the bug hatch if one is going on.

Try Lees Ferry on the Arizona-Utah border immediately below Glen Canyon Dam and Lake Powell. Drive to the Lees Ferry boat ramp and you will find the walk-in section. No boats needed. For complete info, good advice, and a glorious selection of flies and lures, visit Lees Ferry Anglers. The shop, motel, and restaurant are 10 to 12 miles up the highway from the boat ramp. They also have a jet boat rental along with a kayak and canoe service that carries you up-river for a trip around Horseshoe Bend. If you have not seen Horseshoe Bend, you are in for a treat. For more information, search the internet for Lees Ferry Anglers.

If you are any sort of a history buff, you know about John D. Lee and the Mountain Meadow Massacre. Lees Ferry is named for John Doyle Lee.

Roosevelt Lake Arizona;🎣🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠

Slightly deeper running baits such as a Super Fluke, Paddle-Tail Swim-Bait or shallow running crank-baits are recommended for the reaction bite. As we pass the summer solstice catfish anglers know that the water temperature is perfect for night time cat-fishing.

Map: Roosevelt Lake, Arizona;🎣🐠

Fish: Largemouth Bass, White Bass, Striped Bass, Crappie, Sunfish, Catfish, and Carp.

The largest lake in Central Arizona, Roosevelt Lake, is a bass fisherman's paradise. At nearly 20,000 acres, and loaded with submerged brush and timber, Roosevelt Lake is the place to be for a serious bass fisherman.

When timed right, this lake can kick out incredible numbers of Largemouth bass, including some giant bass over 10 pounds. This is a great lake to learn a new technique or fishing style, as it offers a little bit of everything. If you are a serious angler looking to spend a full day in one of the country's hottest fisheries, Roosevelt Lake is the place to go.

Trips:

Southwestern Bass Adventure, Big Water Bass on the Fly, Trophy Bass Fishing, Family or Group Adventures.

Big Bass Caught At Roosevelt Lake (Beat The Heat Tour EP. 1)🎣🐠🐠🐠🐠🐠

On our way up north for the Beat The Heat Tour we decided to stop at Roosevelt for a couple hours of fishing. It was all worth it in the end when Matt Shura caught a nice bass just shy of 6 pounds.

If you are trying for trout you should
try small Acme Kastmasters,in silver and gold, or little cloe's in silver, gold, and blue/silver. Try Bluefox Vibrax's in #2or #3 sizes without hair. I have also had success with Thomas Bouyant spoons in a brown trout pattern. Good luck.
