In MA. I fish onshore and Asia Green Crabs eat the Bait (Clams). When I put a bobber on, to hold bait off sea floor, the wind or tide bring the bobber into the shore. Any suggestions. (Most fishing is tidal river or inlets.)

For your $800 limit, I suggest a used Kayak. I bought a 14 Ft. tandem OCEAN Kayak (the brand),Malibu XLS (model) for $500. I can use as Tanden with wife for kayaking. For Fishing, move one seat into the center, remove other seat. Got a Scott Rod Holder (that's removable), and I have used it for 4 years now. It has great stability but I don't stand up in the Kayak, fish seated only.

I put my Kayak on a Nissan Altima using Malone Standard Foam Block Universal Car Top Canoe Carrier Kit $37.75 on Amazon. Suggest you go the inexpensive route till you know what you want long-term.
If you are driving long-distance + 1 hour to kayak then you probably do want to buy a more substantial rack now.

Hi,
I live on South Shore of Massachusetts and fish onshore for for schoolie Stripers in the North River,Back River, Fore River, Hingham Bay. Mainly use Clams but at this time of year [late July into August], as Bait fish leave....
....Clams as Bait stop working also. Any suggestions on Bait /Lures to use during this time period. Any suggestions are welcome. Thanks.

I'm 66, 6 2, 260 lbs. I kayak fish in Boston Harbor and local Tidal Rivers for Strippers. I bought a used 14 ft. Pungo yak from a local Kayak Rental company, for $350.Yak is sit-in type. Its all about safety, safety, safety.
Get a yak that has stability for big guys like us. I concur with other writers here to stay away from cheap yak's @ Dick's or big box stores.

Yesterday I was fishing with 3 'old guys'..no offense intended, I love fishing with old dudes. Heck, I'm old. One hooked a huge cat, we saw the cat, about 20#, the line snapped and the old dude fell backwards...broke his hip. If he had been fishing alone he would have been hard pressed to get his phone out of the truck and call for help.. ambulance came, firetruck came, city cop came. He was transported to the hospital which was located just across the lake. Any close calls for y'all?

I'm 66, Kayak fish and fish from jetties....if phone doesn't work or you forgot it...its could be trouble.
I carry a whistle in my tackle box and wear it around my neck when I'm in the kayak. Its an extra layer of Safety.

1.How are you rigging the shrimp? thru back shell, occasionally I tie back shell & tail together [when fish appear pulling shrimp off easily & quickly].
2.How heavy of a line are you using? 12 lb monofilament
3. Your hook? mainly 3/0,some 5/0 hooks

I catch mostly small juvenile fish (with scrimp); how can I catch more mature fish?
Many times I'm in a kayak.(fish during daylight hours).
I have had no luck with Lures yet, so I stay with Live Scrimp.
Any suggestions would be helpful.

Hi,

65, WM, retired snowbird. Have been kayak fishing in Ft.Pierce Inlet/Mangroves/Indian River
mostly with shrimp bait. Catching Catfish, few Pompano Sheephead, small Snappers.

1. Would like to catch bigger fish. Any advise or links to go to?
2. Tossing out Lure from Kayak gets tiring....any advise on lure fishing from kayak.
3. Kayaking Fish Buddy. I generally fish solo [cause to one else has kayak]. If you revert back to me
perhaps we can go out together to fish.

Thanks in advance
