My fishing partner and I have a pontoon boat. They are not designed for handling 2 or three foot waves, let alone anything bigger. I have seen people take them out in the middle of Lake Erie. I've taken all my grandkids fishing, and the ones who enjoyed it most and stuck with it or the girls. Now I've gotten the girls rods and reels skin condition for their children to fish with. My eldest great-grandson should be ready for his own small rods and reel and tackle box very soon he's almost two now.

I think with a double taper line, you should think of it as a double headed animal, like the push-me-pull-you from Doctor Dolittle. It's like having a weight forward line on each end with the running line in the middle. That way when the and that you're using gets w o r n, you just turn the line around and it's like you have a whole new line.
