Our Jack Russell Terrier is the best defense I know. He has a copperhead and a timber rattler to his credit.
Hey Don. I served in Nam late ... 71-72.
MACV Adv Tm 42 in Bong Son. Welcome home and welcome to “Fishing”.
Good-looking rods ... good job, well done.
Hi. I store my terminal tackle in a tray, and I tie my drop shot and Carolina rigs. These I store in sandwich-size zip lock bags. I also store my saltwater lures and leaders in zip lock bags.
My wife and I use the Penn Pursuit 4000 spincast combo in backwater and off the pier.
Walmart has a spin casting combo, the Penn Pursuit 4000, under $50. My wife and I use this combo in saltwater everyday.
Welcome, Unique. My wife and I fish several different spots on Oak Island. The “Point” is probably the best spot. It’s where the Davis Canal, the ICW, and Lockwood Folly River all come together. This time of year Red Drum, Sea Trout, and Whiting are plentiful.
Hi. I got my bride into fishing in Alaska soon after we were married in 1968. It wasn’t long before she was outfishing me regularly...and in today’s economy, she’s still ahead of me. She has learned to tie fishing knots, and most recently, she has mastered the cast net. She is my life-long fishing buddy, and I love her.
It appears to be a sail catfish.
We’re using finger-sized mullet minnows. The steel leader we’re using is only 4” long.
I usually tie a #10 swivel onto the wire. This allows me to tie a 2’ x 30# leader to the 6” wire. This rig works like a Carolina rig, and it can be used under a popping cork or float.
Hello. I’m recommending that you use a pier drop net to land those large fish. If using a pier net isn’t possible, a 5000-series surf-style reel with a 6’ heavy action rod will do the trick.
