Several times. That’s how it is with surf fishing, and I’m not judging OP for it, but it makes it difficult to ID

Atlantic Threadfin is the name I always heard. A few folks also called them a a surfrunner but pretty sure it’s a threadfin.

Definitely Atlantic Threadfin, I've heard them called surf runners, goatfish, all kinds of stuff. They are fairly rare and supposedly taste really good though I've never tried it.

Must be a kissin cousin of what us called kingfish Virginia mullet sea mullet and whiting. For the future try to hold them straight out to the camera . Easier to id when you can see the whole fish.

Do that with any fish it also makes them look bigger.
