The or ing bite-was non exist ant but later the screen lit up again like yesterday just after 5 PM at Lake Hartwell and we limited out again today... the fish in my left hand weighed 4 lbs and this monster striper in my left hand came somewhere between 10-12 lbs (this fish would not stop wiggling around and keep making racket in the live we’ll box for over an hour) Most were in 40-60 feet but this monster came off the bottom in about 100 feet deep and took over 10 minutes to land... it was another good day to be on the lake.

Looks like you have plenty advice on gear... I always walk the area(s) I am planning on fishing at low tide as soon as I arrive without even bringing a rod... I like to read the tide and see where there are troughs and low areas and make a mental note of their locations or simply put a stick up at the top of the beach. Many saltwater fish hang out in structure, low spots just the same as freshwater fish... they have their hunting ground and like to ambush the smaller fish... and there is no reason to try to cast to England, you are there to catch fish.. it’s not a “who can cast the farthest contest” that a lot of rookies get into cause they can cast but don’t know how to fish... good luck and send PIXS!

This pix is from May 29th.. that was the last time Dan and me caught a stripper or a hybrid... not none fish in June, but I am hearing you gotta be on the water at daylight and they stop biting by 9 or 10 AM...

Yeah that was a while ago I remember hearing about that too... but I haven’t heard of any alligator sightings recently and if any of the local news channels got wind of a sighting it would most likely be their lead story to scare the crap out of everyone up there.

Wow it was hot… * only 88 degrees but it felt like 100 in the sun… as soon as we got out I got a small hybrid.. a few minutes later Dan landed this decent spotted bass…. On the way in I had a spot for a bit that decided to jump a foot out of the water 10’ from the boat and throw the bait… for a 2 hour trip in the middle of the day… fish on!

So the boats in the shop and Lake Norman is a zoo, boats everywhere on Memorial Day Weekend. Dan said come on over we can just take my boat out... a 20’ runabout which is great for pleasure boating, but not ideal for fishing. Well in 3 hours we had one of our better days. The spots were hammering the baits and even got a decent Striper / Hybrid, feel free to chine in cause I can’t tell what this one is... all I know is that fish was one of the many Kabooms! We spent most the day around Reed Creek channel marker D8 for those who know Lake Norman. I think Dan caught the fish of the day, that fish was all over the place, one of those circus spots darting back and forth, coming out the water, sounding... that fish was a fighter.

A Whopper Plopper, no one I have talked to has ever heard of a White Perch hitting a top water... and this was probably the biggest White Perch I have ever seen... we probably should have looked up the state record before throwing it back... oh well we know where he lives.

You can usually find me and Dan around channel marker D10 at some point while we are out… it usually produces a fish or two…

We have not seen any shad schools on top, we have marked several balls of bait fish 10-15’ down in the big coves on our last trip

Another beautiful hot and sunny day here at Lake Norman… you know what that means, fishing, ice cold beverages and even brought some beef jerky… oh yeah! Dan caught this monster White Perch using a Whopper Plopper top water in 6’ of water… that fish hammered that bait. I got some hits and missed a few but did land up catching some decent Spots…
