I had 5 boats at one time a couple years ago and it wasn't intentional. I inherited 2 and when I bought my new and bigger place below # 9 Dam , 2 boats came with it. One was a 12 ft. runabout with trailor and the other was a small Bass Tracker that had only been used for a four week period. It had a 25 Mercury on it with An Aluminum prop with all the paint still on the blades, I ask the wife which one she wanted to keep for HER boat and she picked the shiny new Tracker , the rest we got rid of including the 18 ft. flat we usually fished from.
You don't run an Alum. prop on the big river (very long ) and a power trim and tilt is also a must with a stainless wheel. I replaced the pretend troller up front with an 80 pound thrust tiller arm control that will drag us thru a solid wall of veggies or pads, with our current set up we can do 6 inches of water quite well.
Since I put on the big troller I have only used the 12 foot duck billed push pole once and that was to fend off a really pissed off Beaver my Dentist had snagged between the ears with a Rattletrap, but that' another story.

Iowa winters aren't much to write home to mother about either ! I have wondered for many years why in hell I stayed here so long, it's a toss up between being too poor or too dumb to leave ! After 77 years I finally figured it out.

All of the above !

Thanks for the warm welcome guy's, the big river has been abnormally high for the last 3 years and is just getting down to normal river stage in the last couple weeks. When the water is over the islands it's a bitch getting back into the timber where they go to ! Powering over down logs is a great way to knock off your transducer bracket.

Don't ask me how I know THAT !

Great bunch of lure lobbers here looks like, probably won't see many pics. from me as I am NOT computer literate enough for posting pictures and other things, I know just enough to handle my E-Mail and spend a whole bunch of money on E-Bay ! Found a few sport shops in China that sell lures for pennies on the dollar but have up to 3 months delivery. Gots to order there after you put the rig away for winter, can restock the tackle box after late season inventory !
We only keep the smaller walleye between 16 to 19 inches .

Some of the newer bait casters are a bit pricey, would suggest you borrow one of each and then fork out a kings ransom for the one that floats your boat. What ever you do, stay away from the entry level models as they start causing you grief almost from the get-go ! One small piece of of dirt or sand will have you talking to Jesus or anyone else you might think cares about your current problem !

I like to use the scrub pads for dish washing that contain no soap. I cut the wet pads into 1/2 x 2 inch strips and then place them in a zip top plastic bag with stink bait and then mash the bait into the little strips until they are filled with the bait. Put the hook thru the end or middle and the bait will keep working MUCH longer than any of the store bought rigs you pay an arm and leg for and have to be re-coated often especially when fishing current !

Hi, my name is Harley.
I have a fishing shack 10 miles North of Prarie Du Chien Wisconsin. My buddy and I use it as a home base and
usually fish 1 or 2 pools North or South on Saturday and head the opposite direction on Sunday. We usually fish Bass but take a couple hours on Sunday afternoon to catch 3 or 4 Walleye so his wife can have a fish fry during the week. Been enjoying reading this forum, seems to be a likable bunch that hangs around here hope there are a few river rats in the group maybe hook up over on the river sometime. Right now the Bass are starting to get active in the pad fields near us !

Tight lines everyone !

I run into a lot of nazi on the Miss. River. Fish weekends with my Dentist , he has Fri - Sun off. Thousands of acres of water in each pool and you have people cutting off the bank on you, pulling in 100 feet ahead of you and fish ahead of you !
