Thanks johnlmac. I had thought of the same thing, thought someone might know if some places I wasn't aware of that are possibly less crowded.
Hello everyone and good fishing to you all. Getting prepared for late March and early April surf perch fishing and looking for suggestions on location, rigging and best baits. Will probably be fishing mostly around the Lincoln City area, both north of it and South. Anyone have any good advice and suggestions? Any analysis will be appreciated.
Welcome to the forum local friend and welcome back to fishing.
Wishing all my fishing brothers right lines and successful harvests in 2023
Just about all of them if they have early returning hatchery fish. Best info is on myodfw website under fishing reports. Updated weekly
Hey everyone. I'm hoping to get any good info on winter steelhead in 3 rivers ai Hebo. Baits or lures, places to cast, or even plunking spots on the nesstucca near the mouth. I don't have a boat so I prefer to fish smaller river like this one. Also maybe some spots and gear info for the salmon river along hwy 18. Thanks everyone, tight lines to all!

I caught these two steelheads yesterday on the North Fork Nehalem river, male and female.
Beautiful fish. Would you be willing to inform us on technique and bait?
No I'm sorry my advice for Alton Baker did not work out. Another nearby spot that becomes really good midwinter to spring is the junction city pond. Usually around November December they start stocking it regularly, with occasional huge trout between 5:00 and 11 lb get stocked occasionally in the winter time. One of our best resources is myodfw.com. just look it up and tap onto fishing reports and then tap into the Willamette zone and you will get stocking schedules and fishing reports all over the area. I hope this helps more than the Alton Baker advice. Good luck fishing, keep the lines wet, and always remember a bad day fishing beats a good day working
Oops, I meant until we get some rain thing will be slow. Guess I should proof read🤣
I think as soon as we get some good cool rain things will be slow.
Also look to myodfw.com and up fishing reports for Willamette unit. Alton Baker stocked almost weekly for trout.

Detroit lake is almost always a good place to go. In my experience if you get to the dam near to or close to sunrise and fish directly off the damn it is almost always a guarantee. The water is quite a ways down from where you fish but it's not too hard to bring them up. The best bait I've ever used there are tiny little cocktail shrimp also known as salad shrimp. Spoke to a wildlife official up there once and found out there is a freshwater shrimp population in the lake.
And add a note on the fishing at Detroit lake dam. One of the most reliable dates I've ever used there is a tiny little cocktail, salad shrimp. I spoke to a ODFW fish biologist who works Detroit area and he stated that there is a natural freshwater shrimp population in the lake that makes this one of the number one baits to use.
Thanks for the advice. I'm aware they usually don't make it up here to the Salem, santiam River area until later in September. Just looking for advice on where to plunk for them in the area and the techniques and hardware used. Again thanks for the help
