If you like stories to listen to on the radio check this out.
CBS Radio Mystery Theater, on YouTube. They are shows from 1974.
Each program is about 45 minutes long.
I found this by accident. Some are scary so don't listen with the lights out. LOL.

well remember before tv, we'd lay in bed & turn radio on. that was big then.

Talking about Bigfoot. Has anyone had any encounters in the woods that you thought might be bigfoot?
I live in WV & so far, haven't heard of any here. I know some shows on TV that people from Ohio have told about seeing them. I'm close to KY and OHIO and am surrounded by woods.

Just got back home a little while ago From Scorchy's place. Had a wonderful time and we fished Wed on East Park Res and caught bout 30 fish. Lost a few good ones but still managed to boat 1 that was bout 4# and a couple that were 3+. Rest were mostly 2 to 2 1/2 # with a couple of dinks thrown in.
Took a couple of pics of Scorchy. Course he caught the biggest fish and also 1 real nice crappie.
Didn't keep any this time but hopefully get a bunch of crappie next time for the freezer.
Sue did great and we missed each other a lot. Can't believe that we would actually miss each other that much after bein cooped up together for over 9 straight weeks.
Thanks for all the well wishes and prayers. Steve

You don't hear of many men missing their wives after a couple of days. Good for you all. Sounds like a good solid marriage.

Thanks for the info, bottomcoon. I'm not hung-up on the poke necessarily, but i'd love the fish with fries or hush puppies, some coleslaw, and of course a big glass of sweet iced tea!!

That's what I usually get at Captain D's and instead of french fries get fried Okra.

We have a fast food place here called "Long John Silvers"
It's not half bad. They give you hush puppies with your meal.
Wife and go there for lunch at times if we are in the area.

Yes, I've tried Long John Silvers. It's pretty good also.

I would rather fish alone, I find it much more relaxing. I am older and retired and a lot of the people I fish with have no patience at all, they want fish to jump in the boat or move, they are not enjoying the trip or they are on their phone constantly. I enjoy baiting up and presenting the set up to the target fish, I love the first feel of the bite and playing the fish is the best. I try to take good care of my catch, lots of ice. Dont get me wrong I usually ask a buddy along and do like the company, but at my age,72 most of my fishing pals will not get up early any more, I like to be on the water at dawn, hence I fish alone and love it...

Last year I'd wake up around 4 am & be out at the lake. In the summertime you have to get there just at daylight for the best bite time. I'd probably leave when it warmed up (around 10 am.)

Well since I am in the ball park with the looks you have a reprieve until the winter when the bees are sleeping. Just could not figure out how a record player would sit in a car.

I remember the 45's as well. My sister was more into music then me until the monkey's came out. For some reason that's when music started to be part of my interest.

Well my car was a 64 model. So I got the record player in 64 or 65.

I'll add calamari "squid" to my list.
There's a place here where the sport fishing boats dock and leave from.
Among other items they make a great calamari sandwich.

I tried Calamari at the Olive Garden, but really didn't know what it was at the time. Someone said it was Octopus. I wouldn't have eaten it if I'd known that, but it was good.
Also for the cheaper fish at Captain' Ds. The country fried fish from there isn't as greasy & doesn't have as much batter. My very favorite is Red Lobster. Like any fish they serve.

When this started I failed to mention that all fish prefer regular and not crunchy. Name brand not generic.

Do they prefer JIF peanut butter?

Now mm you know what curiosity did to the kitty. Now by far I don't want you getting stung so next cool day when those bees are taking the day off I will be lookin on here for the record player. I thought phones that looked like phones in a car were a novelty, can't picture a record player.

However as I was typing this I googled it and is what is showing what you are talking about?

It looks a little like that one, but I could put a stack of 8 records on mine and they played automatically. It only played the 45s which were popular then.

Curiosity is getting the best of me now. Please post a pic of the record player.

Even though I am a Ford guy I would have taken the 57 Chevy. Something about the looks. That is until the Mustang came out I would have dropped the Chevy.

When I sold the 64 Ford, took the record player out & have kept it in the attic. I know it's up there but have been leary about going up in the attic since a bunch of hornets got up there. It is chrome on the outside & open it up & play 45s. It was made for a vehicle at the time, & saw it at Barracks (an auto place). Had them install it for me. What was funny was every time I'd go over a bump sometimes the record would skip on the player. When we'd drive the car thru a drive inn, people would say "Hey, what station do you have on your radio." I'd have alot of records in a box & would keep that thing turned up.
I may locate it someday & tell my daughter to take a picture of it.

There is only 1 thing to wash down a good meal & that's sweet iced tea. I just thought that was understood. There's another drink for pilgrams with diabetes & that's unsweetened tea. Do any of you fine members know what polk is? I cut a big bunch of it this morning. I've been eating that stuff all my life & I can testify to the effects of eating a good portion of polk, it will clean you out! Good luck.

I remember my grandmother fixing polk, but it was cooked on the stove with some bacon grease. Never heard of it being in salad.

In the store, talking to the pharmacist about recovering. Mentioned my little taste buds didn't work all that well. She told me it wasn't taste bud damage, but central nervous system damage. So I told her I was glad to hear that; it explained the convulsions. You should have seen her face! Great stuff.

It's always good to have a sense of humor in these times. The cashier always says "and how are you today?" I always reply "Like I Was Yesterday" and they just have a blank look on their faces. Now, we know they don't care how we are today - they don't even know us.

Funny, I was thinking he "crowned" the meal with that steak ! mmmm...venison. (I suppose you could top a steak by substituting backstrap, but.....) BCoon.....all you left out was what to wash it down with !

I could never eat deer meat, as my husband would hang the deer up before he butchered it. Everytime I walked outside would accidently see that deer. I know it's all in my head that I can't see anything live then it is to be butchered. I was raised in the city and when my Mother would be frying pork chops - if I saw anything red coming out of the meat I'd say "is that blood". Mother would say "no, honey it's food coloring". I took her word for it and would eat it.
I did cook the deer meat for my husband. Soaked frozen deer roast in vinegar, drained & then baked it like a beef roast with vegetables. Leo, (husband) said it tasted like a beef roast to him. If I've ever eaten it at someone's house and I didn't know what it was, I'd have liked it. One time his sister's husband had lunch meat made up with deer and I was eating it. He said "do you like that lunchmeat & I said yes." He laughed & stated "you just had deer sandwich meat, after I'd had my 2nd helping. Ha

A lot of ladies seem to believe that way, it has been my experience that when a man is in love with a woman there are no lengths to which he will not go to care for her.

I do remember my husband being very attentive towards me when I had my breast cancer operation. But, so was my Mother & Daughter. My Mother wouldn't let me go home, she made me stay at her house for 2 weeks. She was afraid that I would try to take my beagle dogs out hunting and be lifting on them. Finally when I got home, my husband had cooked a big pot of pinto beans in the crockpot. He must have put a 2 lb bag in there, but they were good.
