So I took my kids on a 6 1/2 miles iSup fishing trip down the south Llano river. My mil tagged along on a tube. We had to tow her most of the way 💪 We managed to catch a minnow and a small sunfish before capsizing and losing all of our tackle, my son’s t-shirt and one of my shoes! 🤦‍♀️ Was a real shame cuz a few miles down river we saw some really good sized fish and I just couldn’t help it...had to take my “lucky” fly (first and only one I ever tied myself on a saltwater fishing trip in Florida) off my hat. Cast it out about four times before getting it snagged on a sunken tree and lost that too! 😞 Ended up with nothing but a sunburn. Had so much fun I’m gearing up to do it again. Taking hubby with me this time...was a hard pass for the kids! Lol

How fun! Been trying to talk my husband into buying a boat for the last 15 yrs, he’s determined to hold out until retirement. I don’t blame him. Being at work all day thinking about how you’d rather be out on your boat makes for a long career 😁 Congratulations on yours; fun times! Love the pictures.

Lost count of the catch at about 30 to 35 but I'd say we had a 40 fish day anyway.
Not a bad day for the conditions we had.

What?! I’d consider that not a bad day even in perfect conditions! In fact, I’d call that not a bad week of fishing 😁 Seriously, I don’t think I’ve caught 40 fish in my entire lifetime. Getting excited about catching one trout seems kinda lame now 😂

Good job, Lynnz, but trout go better with Miller Lite.

Hmmm... I think Miller Lite is perfect WHILE fishing for trout, but catching one deserves a Shiner! 😉

Atta Girl Lynnz, nice catch, Nice Pic.

Way to go!

Me personally, I'd cook it on the Grill.

I thought about getting some charcoal but ended up cooking it in a cast iron skillet on an electric burner plugged into my camper. Was a simple dinner, but oh so good!

Nice trout, Lynn! Boy, does that look delicious! I used to feel funny about fishing alone - maybe it’s a girl thing - but I do it all the time now. Here’s wishing you many more good times and great catches.

Thank you! I was nervous about getting out there on my own, my husband usually does all the hard stuff. But now that I’ve caught, cleaned and cooked one all by myself I have to admit I’m the one hooked! Not sure what I’d do if I caught a catfish or something with scales, but now I’m confident I can figure it out. Definitely going to invest in a filet knife 😁

Very nice Lynnz. Looks yummy 😋. How are you going to prepare it?

Thanks, it was yummy! I was just planning on c&r but had trouble getting the hook out so it didn’t work out that way. Just used what I had on hand at the campground...seasoned with Mrs. Dash and fried it in bacon grease.

Just remeber one thing, mine wife always tells me, most of this stuff is made to catch fisherman and not fish. She may have a point there.

Love it! Your wife is a smart woman!

Thank you everyone for all the great advice! The pics and links are helpful and love the idea of adding a gift card. Spent about an hour in the fishing aisles today and got a few things and a tackle box. Looking forward to more shopping... I had no idea there were so many different kinds of tackle. Made me realize that I always rely on my husband to set up my line for me. Guess it’s about time for me to learn how to fish! Thanks again for everyone’s input.

My husband lost his tackle box and all of his tackle on a recent fishing trip. I thought I’d surprise him with a new one for Father’s Day. I would like to stock it with some useful stuff (our local lake has bass, walleye, catfish and crappie). What are your favorite tackle box items?
