We got the boat months ago but have not had good luck getting out on it. First plan was Mother’s Day and it snowed! Next available weekend I slipped a disk in my back the night before and was laid up for two weeks. Next weekend possible it rained for 2 days straight!!! So Sunday we got out!!!

Grandparents picked up the kids at 2:00 and we left for the water. Plan was to try Erie for perch or walleye and then either keep fishing (if catching) or head to an inland lake for evening bite.

So the Edge water ramp we went to was crazy!!! People every where, no courtesy, the usual for a weekend!!! Got launched in about 20 min so we where doing great!! Motor fired right up and we headed out. Decided to stay within the break wall. Waves where 1-2’ on the lake and I didn’t want to scare the wife! As we approached the inlet to the break wall area I could see trouble!! The morons in there $50,000 plus speed boats had no respect for the no wake zone and where shooting through creating huge waves (6-8’ rollers easy!). In my little boat it felt like the Bearing Sea!!! We managed to ride out the rollers get turned around and head back to the launch. Wife was white knuckled!!!

Back at the launch the place was now 5 times as busy! Line of 20 boats waiting to launch. Some how managed to get out of the water really fast. Was parked up front and said f... it and just backed straight in and grabbed her. I had her out of the water in 2 minutes and headed to the far end of the lot to re-group. While packing boat up to leave we ran into a guy from ODRN said this was the busiest day on record for the launch. He asked if we caught anything and I told him our story.

Headed back and dropped of the gas motor. Then off to Wellington Reservoir. Made it there by 5 and caught a few large mouth and a small mouth. From 5:00-8:00. At 8:00 the bite started. Picked up a few pan fish on our bobber rods and one more large mouth. The reservoir is open till 10:00 but boating is restricted to daylight ours. Pulled the boat at 9:15. As I put things away for our trip home the wife went down to the shore to keep fishing a Texas rigged rage craw and 2 guys walked up to the ramp and started casting chatter baits. Immediately the catching began. The guys throwing chatters caught 3 in five min all 2-3 lbs. My wife had a really nice one on but lost him at the shore. There must have been 100 bass feeding in a pack. It’s like they waited for my boat to get out of the water and then the dinner bell rang!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂

All and all it was a great time. Wife had so much fun we tried to go again today. But that is for another post. Here’s some pics. Can you see the turtle?

Really nice looking lake J, big BG, and a nice SM, I even see the Turtle. Also sounds like a hectic, but good day. Glad you both had some fun.

There’s a snapper in it. Looks like a rock with moss on him.

Beautiful sunset, nice looking fish, survived the clown show and made it back safely to the launch. Sounds like your boat refurbishment worked great as well. all in all a good day. Thanks for sharing. I do see the snapper too.
