Most of the river is open until 31 December.
I’m trolling from the southern tip of harbor island to the old 99 bridge, and bank fishing areas in Tukwila I can’t access with my boat.
Both of these show as open until 31 December, limit three; with areas up river of the old 99 bridge allowing retention of chinook.
Sops Creek Hatchery Escapement report last week saw a 1,500 fish increase in coho from previous week.
Wondering if it has to do with lack of new water (lack of rain)?
I’m bobbing eggs, throwing spoons and Vibramax, and twitching jigs to no avail.
Anyone else seen the coho run go this dry this fast on the Duwamish?
Same goes for Marine Area 10 between Edmonds and Shilshoe?
Been running everything I’ve got: kwikfish, Brad’s wigglers, brads super bait original, super bait cut plugs, #3, 4, and 5 vibrax spinners, dick nites, and jigs of every color.
Trolling at depth just at or above marked fish (90% sure anyway…), at anywhere from 2.5 - 4 knots indicated on GPS, varying speed to keep it interesting.
About to try mooching.
😂😐😂
In the event you have a smart device, the Fish WA app has a very useful map feature, so you have a visual to go with the reading in the pamphlet.*
No, I don’t work for WDFW, but this app is a life saver as I’ve had to point out to even WDFW employees what the updated regs are.
That.
I didn’t check the dates.
(Download the FishWA app.)
Outside of this 300’, the Duwamish / Green is open from the southern tip of Harbor Island all the way to to the Tacoma Municipal boundary marker (1.3 miles downstream of Tacoma Headworks Dam).
(I followed it all the way up in the FishWA app.)
The Duwamish/Green is closed waters 150’ downstream and 150’ upstream of where Keta Creek dumps into the Duwamish\Green.
I have my ducks in a row before I launch and have a pretty good system for solid retrieve.
Appreciate the information and I concur: If you’re efficient and in/out quickly it’s on then if there is a problem.
Tight lines, gents.
Anyone have experience launching and retrieving solo at Eddie Vine?
I was going to launch/retrieve solo Sunday morning but did not want o be “that guy” that holds up the entire process for everyone.
This is more a “vibe check” of those using the launch being OK with solo launches and retrieves.
Thanks.
Nice work!
I’ll be out tomorrow (10/2) and am going to troll from the oil docks to Richmond Beach.
It’ll be my first time out on the sound solo, so hoping I pull some chrome.
Ah, ok. Yes, the Stillaguamish is open for salmon.
Thanks.
Which river is “The Stilly”?
Salmon do not fall under the “Other Game Fish” category; Salmon are categorized as food fish.
Unless the regulation specifically lists SALMON (the reg uses all caps) for the water you are fishing, there is no salmon season / fishery on those waters.
Nice work on the cutthroat.
In addition to the mag brake, depending on which reel you have, I would turn on all the brakes “On”, and as you get better, slide them “Off” as needed.
My Currado 201 has a pop out door with 4 slider brakes inside.
Similar to this:
Salmon are not listed in the 2022-2023 fishing regulations on the Snohomish, so it is my understanding there is currently no salmon season on the Snohomish for any salmon species.
You can check the emergency regs in the event they open the fishery here:
https://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/regulations/emergency-rules
In the Fish WA App, there is no listing for salmon on the Snohomish.
I was down river of the Toulte, at Lions Pride Park, shore fishing bobber and egg for chinook and took one 25 pounder on 9/10 and another 20 pounder on 9/18.
I was the only person to catch any fish in that spot (I worked the entire shoreline from top to bottom) both days; fished about 3 hours each day.
Landed both fish in the first hour then got nothing the rest of the day.
Switched to spoons and jigs and kwikfish & brads wrigglers for coho around 8:30 to no avail.
Fish were consistently rolling and jumping though.
