I'm Bob. in Blaine Washington. Practicing using my new rod and baitcaster. Anxious to hit the rivers and bring home some bright silvers. Any tips will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to the Stage Bob . No info for your area, but as far as your new setup goes, practice, practice, practice. If it's your first one, turn the magnetic brake up all the way, and adjust your spool tension so your lure falls straight to the ground and the spool stops when it hits the ground. After you get used to it, back off the magnetic brake, a little at a time until you start getting a minor backlash, then go back up a little. Every time you change to a different lure, readjust the spool tension.
Good Luck and Tight Lines.

In addition to the mag brake, depending on which reel you have, I would turn on all the brakes “On”, and as you get better, slide them “Off” as needed.
My Currado 201 has a pop out door with 4 slider brakes inside.
