Beats me... Trinity Lake in NorCal. Next to crappie, catfish is my favorite. I have a Hurricane 196 and need to learn the lake. So, thanks to all of you, this 70 year old retired National Park Ranger will definitely take your advice. Plumbers tape, heavier line and Spiderwire.

Totally agree Seaborg! When I was a kid in New Mexico, game and fish wardens were super polite, but it seems that times have changed. I was a Park Ranger and it was my job to be polite... for the most part, Rangers still are.

A castmaster has always been my “go to” lure; however, plain old crappie jigs are good for just about anything. Thank you everyone, I learn so much from this forum.
