i cant get this 100lb sea striker mono to work its so curly and permanent bendable, if you look at the simple loop i tried to made the knot doesn't want to even stay tight. don't even know how to attempt dropper loop or two snelled hooked rig with this, is there something wrong with the mono

Bluefish and fluke they have sharp teeth so thick mono is needed, dont want to use wire

Dude you don’t need 100 lb mono to catch fluke and bluefish haha I’ve caught plenty of both just using 20-25 lb fluorocarbon leader

It's workable. I tie with 100 and 125 somewhat regularly. Not dropper loops or snells, though. Simple stuff. Albrights and clinch knots. It'll tighten up given enough pull.

Where did you get the line from? Mono doesn't last forever and I'm wondering if that had been sitting on a shelf for 6 years before you got it. Maybe longer. Getting it wet also help tighten. YouTube knots for heavy mono. Things change a bit when you start using big line.

Tie the knot and then hold it in some hot water for about 30 seconds and then tighten it.

I have caught a lot of fluke can’t ever remember a bite off , bluefish yes but 100 lb mono is a little extreme, use a 6 inch store bought wire leader is all you’ll need

Ever try to break 100# test when hung up? 80# is tuff and 60# is what we use so I can break it off! Do have 100# braid on 6/0 trolling reel only! Knots are tuff to tie on 100# mono, too stiff and crimps are better!

That mono looks like garbage , and you do not require 100# mono 25 - 30’is plenty for your use !
Use wire leaders if blue fishing and that’s it !
By the way if that 100# mono was decent u can knot it easily , bust as stated in my opinion it’s garbage and not needed !

Looks like the stuff we used to hang memorabilia from the ceiling in the bar I worked at in college. I remember the owner had told his son to get the heaviest mono he could. Couldn't tie tight knots with it to save our souls.
Can't imagine your stuff casts or winds on a reel all that wonderful either. While not a huge braid fan, I would certainly use it to achieve the same strength you apparently desire, along with the wire leader others mentioned.
That stuff looks like it would be excellent, however, for snares or trip-lines if you find yourself in a Rambo situation ! TIGHT LINES (if it's possible) LOL !

Line that heavy should be crimped, not tied.

Its garbage ,throw it out. You dont need 100lb. mono ! Use flrocarbon a lot lighter ,or light soft cable leader with crimps works well ,100lb. is overkill !

Power Pro braid puts mono to shame. Easy to tie and small diameter compared to mono or fluoro. Casts better too!
