With all the strife that is going on in the world. Our failing leaders and million other things that are in turmoil. I take comfort in my Faith knowing that God is in charge. I remind myself of all the many blessing that the Lord has given me.
And at the end of the day, "I can just go fishing".

I fish for sockeye salmon every summer. I am not very knowledgeable about wading boots. The pair I have now seem to soak up a lot of water and get very heavy and take a long time to dry out. Would like to find a pair that have plenty of support but don't hold a lot of water. I have week ankles and tender feet. Would love advice and experience on what is out there. Thanks for any help.

Thanks "bapabear". Your info on what flies to use is most helpful. I've done a little fly fishing for trout and wanting to do a little more off it in the future. I've been fishing the Kenai for sockeyes the past 8 years. Your comments on the way it is there are "spot on". Each year I stay longer and was looking for fishing opportunitys when the salmon fishing is slow.
I've learned to embrace the combat fishing, Made a lot of good friends. Most are very friendly and giving people. Yes there are some buttheads. Welcome to life.
Yes you are right about catch and release being almost criminal to a lot of them. To me "The Tug is the Drug". I don't like salmon all that well and keep just a few of them. I do catch and release. Give away most of what I catch. I take pride in how few I foul hook. Very careful with my flipping/flossing. I have found that a hard rip that some do is not necessary.
Thanks again for your comments and info.

I have been fishing for salmon in a Alaska for several years. Would like to try some trout fishing on the Russian River. Would like to know what are the best patterns and technics to use. I will be there July and August next year.
Trying to plan ahead so I'm prepared. Just looking for tips on tackle, patterns, and rules. Thanks

This was my 8th year fishing on the Kenai River in Alaska. This year was the best. Big numbers of fish and great weather over all.
The best part of fishing the Kenai is my fishing friends. To me these people I fish with is a great blessing from God. It is one of the most giving places I am at all year. Plus I get to catch fish. Can't wait for next year.

Ben, go to "fishingtalks.com". There are some people on there that only fish with vintage gear.
I collect vintage fishing gear. Love the old stuff. But when I go fishing give me the new gear.

Great pics Fred and good smallmouth. I just got back from South Dakota smallmouth fishing. Puts you on a high does it not. "The Tug is the Drug"
Glad you had a good trip.

I live in Wheatland. I fish mostly smallmouth and walleye. I don't fish for trout much but, wheni do I like Grey Reef south of Casper. Lots of fun if you have a float boat. Many public places to wade.

Good one plum.
I'm sitting here in my camper waiting for a thunderstorm to pass. So I can hit the lake. So lucky to be here. Seeing God's power with a storm is a wonderful thing. That's one of the many reasons I like being outdoors and fishing. Also "The tug is the drug".

I fly to Alaska every year to salmon fish. I carry on all my fishing gear except knives and hooks. I use a backpack for my reals and tackle. Backpack does not count as a carryon. Put my waders in a duffle bag and rods in a case. It counts as one carryon. I fly Alaskan Air. If my luggage is lost I have my gear. Easier to replace my clothes. Plus my fishing gear is worth much more than my clothes and easier to replace.

My advice is probably worth what you are paying for it.
It looks like a pretty good boat. I think the price is a little high. I would offer him $2500 cash and see what he does. That's just me.
I like boat shopping in the fall. Three years ago I bought a boat in the fall. The seller was asking $4500. I flashed thirty $100 dollar bills in front of him and drove away with the boat.
