Hi Joe
I agree. I do fine with my baitcasters when ny bait is 1/2 Oz or more and I’m casting distance but I wanted to get into fishing & skipping docks this year and had to back off to my spinning rods rather than losing a lot of time clearing backlashes ☹️
But I’m sure that others will just tell me to practice more 😅

Thanks, Harris.
I’m pretty sure that it was charged but how would I test that it can take a load?

Hello
My Minn Kota TM with iPilot remote has started having problems. It can go from a speed of 1 to 10 and it can steer easily left or right. But when moving, it will not turn by pedal or remote if the speed is above 6 - but will turn easily if I stop the prop from running.

Any idea why this fault is happening?

All inputs appreciated ☹️

Thanks for the great pic 🎣

Nice catch Red, that moon was inviting.
What I do sometimes is count it down till it hits the bottom, then cast again and give it a partial count to the depth you want. Thanks for the picture.

I’m going back tonite to see if I can catch a 5 pounder 🤞😅👍

The couple I have RedA are kinda heavy,1/2oz. so they run deep. I usually fish them on a dropoff, either from shallow water over the drop, or parallel to the drop.Cast them out, guesstimate when they're at the proper depth, and retrieve. If a straight retrieve doesn't draw a strike, I'll yo-yo the retrieve, speeding up and slowing down. I really should pick up a couple lighter ones. Sunday I threw a Hack Attack in Bluegill, with a Bluegill Blade Minnow trailer. Unsuccessfully by the way. I'll look for a picture.

Thanks Fred!
We don’t any real good dropoff on our lake.
I guess that it’s the same problem that I have with small swimbaits - I’m never sure where I’m swimming in the water column ☹️
I did a little nite fishing last nite - hoping that the topwater bite would return. Caught this 2.3lb on my Slammer 👍
Thx

Thanks DC, it is a beautiful lake, but even a swim jig didn't work today. This Mashapaug is in Union CT, and is about 3/4surrounded by State park/forest. The North West shore has some houses, and 2 of the islands have summer homes on them

Hey Fred
How do you fish a swim jig. I picked up a few but don’t know best way to work them. I usually end up just fishing it on the bottom like a regular jig ☹️
I’m not all that good with the smaller swimbaits either 😅
Thanks,

Yes, that worked out well 👍

But I went to retie some leaders and move lures between rods - and then a part came off my Curado K ☹️

I’m considering a move to Abu Revo SX. I’ve had good luck with my Revo Inshore on my swimbait rods.

Do people recommend the Revo SX?
Should I consider the Rocket SX to get the 9:1 speed? And why?

Thx for the inputs,

I’m embarrassed to say that I went out fishing with a buddy on Friday nite & I had him look at the reel - and he showed me that there is a lock switch on the underside of the reel that I didn’t have on - my bad 🤪
Then I caught this one 😎

I blew up my reel on long casts the other day and found that the brake door of my reel was coming loose on long casts. I don’t know why but the the brake door opens VERY easily. After several blowups I changed my palming of the reel to keep the door closed but I’d like to find out why it is now so loose.

Has anyone else had this problem or a suggestion?

Thanks

I might try that on some Trebles.
It is a nuisance with trebles tangles in the rod locker and in rod socks ...

And I’ve had to extract them from my fingers several times 😅

I've gone through the same thing, when changing some crankbaits to single inline hooks. I guesstimated, and I'm happy with the results. One thing to keep in mind is that, roughly, treble hooks are sized by the size of ONE of their hooks, not the whole assembly. I believe the name means "size #2 three times." For example.Thats why the numbers are so different than single hooks.
I replaced #4trebles on a 1.5 crankbait with a 1/0 inline hooks,
and #2Trebles on a 2.5 crankbait with 3/0 inline hooks.
I think I guessed close enough.

Hi Fred
Personally I hate trebles but why fo you change to inlines?
Interested,
