Well the horizontal baitfish attack was a bust. Not a bite on anything except nibblers biting the tails off Flukes. I gave it 2.5 hours (Rhyno), mostly on the east side. Unfavorable wind direction didn't help either.(Jerkbaits don't work in trees). After I moved to the areas I usually fish I lost 1 good one on a dropshot, caught a couple Gills on a Wacky General, 2 juvenile Bass ,1SM ,1LM , and a 1.5 pound LM. All on a Watermelon green /Red flake Dinger. Missed a couple more, and called it a day. Surprisingly not interested in June Bug, or Green Pumpkin Dingers, which have been hot the last couple weeks. Also surprised that the water temperature was 72°-74°, warmer up north than down in the valley. Oh well, maybe next week.

The only picture worthy fish

At least you got out and had some action. I’m at work today. I do have an unrelated question for you. The names of the lakes you fish, what’s the history behind them? Are they Indian names?
Better than a skunk. We lake fished today caught a verity bass crappie cats some gills had one catfish around five lbs most of the other was on the small side.

Yes Four, I believe many of them are, even though most are man made in the last 100yrs or so. I've never looked up the history of them, except for Lillinonah. That was the name of a native American Princess, who fell in love with a man her father forbid, and they jumped off a cliff at the north end of the lake. Lovers Leap.

Thanks Mike, I haven't had any bigger fish in the boat since springtime.

Still, a nice looking LM there Fred; your roundup is for sure better than catching donuts any day! That lake looks gorgeous though--I was casting swim jigs to the shore in my mind looking at your pix. Hard to imagine all the development just behind the treeline. That's practically in downtown Providence, isn't it? No wait. My bad, wrong Mashapaug. You're up in CT.

Thanks DC, it is a beautiful lake, but even a swim jig didn't work today. This Mashapaug is in Union CT, and is about 3/4surrounded by State park/forest. The North West shore has some houses, and 2 of the islands have summer homes on them

Nice Fred, still not a bad day with views the beautiful and a sky that clear. The fish were a bonus.

Thanks Plum, it was a nice day. Could have done without the cool breeze, but fall is coming.

How long does it take you to get used to the cold up there Fred?

Better than nothing Fred. I’ve had the skunk more than I’d like to admit on a lake as diverse as you’d previously described.

When I was younger Plum, I didn't notice till the snow started falling. Now a 3 or 4 degree drop and I'm looking for a long sleeved shirt. It's not so bad if you get a steady gradual cool down, but lately we've been all over the place, in the fall and spring. Mid January to the end of February usually suck the worst. I don't take anything below 25° very well anymore.

Thanks BK, I've escaped the striped critter this year, but I count every fish as a fish. Not necessarily the target species, but in the outside ring anyway.LOL.
