Went catfishing today Lake McClure caught a couple of good ones. Santee rig with hotdogs mix with orange jello, garlic, and anise.

Looks like the water level is way down. Is that the upper end of the lake? I would guess the hill in the background would be underwater in a normal year.

I would not use a stringer if there are alligators in water you fish and even be weary of turtles.

Welcome, I think you are going to San Luis Reservoir, California. Fished there 10 years ago from the bank for striped bass and catfish. Used cut up frozen sardines and fished along highway 152? at anyone of the places where you can pull off the road. It can be quite a walk down to the water. There is someone on this site that fishes San Luis. There are also black bass in the reservoir. Fishing is also available in the Forebay below the reservoir.

Thanks Gordon for the video. Been there many times as it is my wife’s favorite place to hike. Just need to to take a flashlight for climbing through the caves. Never did see much water there though.

Hi guys I’m new here and on the fishing world

Florida is a big state with different kinds of fishing. If you go back to your profile and narrow your location as you feel comfortable you will probably get more help as you post. Welcome aboard

Welcome, send me a private message if you need a partner some day in the future. I would bet I do not live far from you. Also fish for bass locally.

Great Lake and February was always my favorite time to fish there. Remember catching a big trout on a craw colored Rapala DT10. Jointed firetiger Rapala was popular there.

Go out and buy a cheap line counter.

The line counter is made to count the line coming off the reel so for example you know how deep or far back you are fishing. For this purpose you might need to attach it to your rod backwards.
