We will be praying for you also. You met my wife a few weeks ago and she had an unexplainable seizure a few years ago and is still on a medication because of it. So we are familiar with the challenges he faces with the employment but also know that our God is willing and able to bring him and his family through this challenging time.
We hope to see you again when we are in the GJ area.

Thanks, friend. His pain management is complicated by being on Coumadin to control a rare blood disorder. Found out that the Tramadol he was on for pain is not recommended for one prone to seizures. He had one 4 or 5 years ago but his doctor retired and the new doc, though in the same office had no idea as that important info was not in his chart. The ER doc said he should not have been on it and to stop immediately. I took him to his PCP doc this morning and he said the only pain reliever he could do was an injectable nonsteroidal. The nurse came in to give him the Injection and said they are out and there is a nationwide shortage. The only pain relief is 1000 mg tylenol every 4 hours. For one who has broken 20 bones in his 53 years that does not help much. Now waiting to get his blood clotting meds regulated again and an urgent appointment with the neurologist. Will keep you all posted as things develop. Thanks for the prayers. Btw I just talked to son David and the surgeon is not happy with the healing of the sightless right eye but he is able to do some computer drafting although it is slow going. Will keep you updated on this also. Boy this being a parent is tough work!

Thanks, all. Randy

Need prayers again friends. Saturday son and wife were at a fun park with the great grands. while playing miniture golf he had a seizure and fell hitting his face and left shoulder. taken to ER in ambulance. We went to his house to sit with the kids while his wife and daughter went to hospital. He had one about 4 years ago. The CT scan showed no brain bleed and no broken bones in his face. His left eye is black and so swollen he can barely see so depth perception is off. His whole face is swollen and purple on mostly the left side. Both knees are skinned and large bruise on left hip. They found that he was prescribed Tramadol for pain which can contribute to seizures. Also alcohol can contribute and he had a relapse last week and drank heavily two days in the last three weeks. (Recovering Alcoholic). The last time he could not drive until cleared by a neurologist and that was 3 months. As a traveling salesman for Kimble Midwest that will most likely put him on temporary disability until cleared. Plan called for by the doctor is: Get off the Tramadol. Evidently his seizure tendency was not noted when his PCP retired and he got a new doc although in the same office. NO Alcohol period! Get more rest and reduce stress which is tough when out of work. He has had considerable problem sleeping according to his sleep number bed. He is only 53 and our baby although he is 6'2" and 300lbs. The weight also may contribute to his problems. Also he has had lots of broken bones when younger. The worst was broken right femur, twice. Motorcycles when younger, of course. As you can see he needs our prayers. He is a Christian so he does pray but like most of us struggles with lots of pain and bone and joint problems. At least since moving back from Texas I can drive him and he won't be home going stir crazy. Hopefully this wont last 3 months like last time but it is and will be life changing. Jean and I are only 6 miles away and of course retired so are available to help out. Thanks in advance for your thoughts and prayers Stagers. I know it works.

On another topic, our son David in Indianapolis is adapting to his loss of sight in his right eye. Still keeping it dilated to help heal for another two weeks but he is driving carefully and working on the computer some though the eye strain slows him down. Computer drafting is his work.

Thanks again for your prayers for my family,

Randy

Yum. I picked up some ham hocks yesterday. I need to put a pot on. I have some Anasazi beans. For those not familiar with them they are a pinto bean discovered in the ancient ruins in the Sourhwest corner of Colorado. Look like a paint pony and a bit sweeter than pinto beans.

Alrighty guys n gals.. Made it back home.

Its bacon smoking day and going to try a new recipe for some breakfast sausage. After I'm done playing with my meat I'll continue with house projects and turn the Daytona 500 on in the background. Nothing screams Spring like 40 cars running over 800hp!

Have a great day!!

We'll be watching for the "Big One". The Trucks and Xfinity cars got the track warmed up! I can doze a bit 'cause they will replay the wrecks multiple times and from different angles. The joy of speedway racing!

Morning everybody!
Got 4 more inches of white stuff and still coming down. Wasn't forewarned of this, didn't put the car in the garage and I'll have to shovel on a day I'd rather not. Gets my arms shaking sometimes and have a heavy concert tonight. Also not looking forward to the drive home at 10:30 pm from Ct with roads icy. Wish me luck folks!!
Going to be a great concert tho!!

Well here in Western Colorado we have 30* going up to 50. Cloudy today but the front range (Denver) got all the nasty weather. Lots of delayed flights but just a light jacket needed here. Good luck. Don't over do the shoveling and be safe on the highway. Shakey not good either at the concert nor driving home late.

Maybe not scrapple but a few slices of Spam goes good instead Andy.

As newly wed college students back in the mid 1960's the wife would score the spam, add some brown sugar and bake until golden brown. Poor man's ham! And fried spam ain't bad either. Yum! May make a run to the grocery store later! Thanks for the reminder PB.

Another memory: in the old days when everyone had a CB in their pickup my handle was "Short Order Cook". Still is.lol

Couple years ago in February, here in Ohio, we had five days in a row of 60* weather. Tied on a purple worm and caught a bunch of scooters, you know, so cold all they did was bend their tail and hold it here while you cranked them in. 😬

We had a couple days of 50* and one of 60* last week and I said I can’t stand it and went fishing. Thanks to a number of posts on cold water fishing here on the Forum and several in the Fur Fish and Game magazine, I have gained confidence in cold water fishing and have realized that bass season never really ends, guy in Pennsylvania ice fishes for bass and caught a 9 pounder!

So I hit my favorite spots - the ice had just melted, and fished a big spinner with a big trailer bouncing the bottom real slow, blades barely turning, and caught a one pounder, a three and a half, and this four plus pounder - which actually jumped three times. !

They maybe native some place in the US but are on the invasive list somewhere in the US.
Click on the name and you will find more about the species history and maps of where.
I am shocked. Never heard of most names.
Have fun.
With this new placement thing don't know how to interest the rest of US.

Some weird names to be sure. In Texas it is illegal to release Talapia. If caught they must be retained or gutted if thrown away. Even if thrown on shore they must be killed and gutted. Here in Western Colorado at Ridgeway Reservoir smallmouth bass are invasive as this is a cold water trout lake. They strongly recommend you keep them, no limit on size or number. They even have a multi week tournament and anglers submit their catch daily for tally by CPW. Invasive is dependent on where you are for sure.

The Bus and I decided to test the water at Lake Berryessa. A little early for us but the urge to wet a line after a couple of months without fishing said "GO!" My expectations matched my skill level at catching cold weather bass, petty low. But my man George took me to school and showed me how to locate them, and how to finesse fish for them. Result? Best day of cold water fishing in my life! We caught over 20 bass (trifecta: spots, smallies, largies) and lost 3-5 at the boat. We both caught a 5 lb smallie! Best 5? 21 to 22 lbs! Beautiful day fishing with a great friend! First trip of 2024 and retirement bodes well for fishing the rest of the year!

Congrats on your retirement and a great day on the water. Budget carefully and don't look back. It's great not to fight weekend boat traffic. My PB smallmouth is 3.25# that blew a cream colored Zara Spook clear out of the water when she hit.cant imagine the fight a 5 gave you. What finesse tactic did you use. I like a drop shot rig or wacky rigged stick worm. A nail weight in one end is also tempting as it just sits on the bottom and waves come eat me. Again, happy retirement!

I don't have much to brag about, so for now just want to hear from more experiences anglers. Maybe as an inspiration for those days when it feels like I'm never getting a bite.

Fishing a night tournament in late July on Lake LBJ in Marble Falls, Tx. 1:30 AM fishing a weed line I get a hard strike on a Texas rigged red/black core 8" worm. Partner turns on his headlight and asks "you gonna need a net? Fish jumps. He says "YOU'RE GONNA NEED A NET! 24" largemouth bass. Weighed 7.5#. What would she have weighed prespawn? Maybe 8.5-9#? Still looking for that double digit lunker. Prolly won't happen now that I'm back in Western Colorado.
