“Migrating”, don’t know the name, but it’s set up like a crank bait, like the Heddon jitterbug lure...

It looks like a full grown sized version of a lizardfish....we get smaller versions of them in the Malibu and Paradise Cove areas in California....

It’s a Creek Chub Viper with dual props...was originally advertised as a “chugging” lure

Anybody have a spinning reel with the bait clicker ? thinking about getting one, I don't care for the bait caster too much but do like the clicker option. been looking at them kinda of spendy. Thank's

These are better known as baitrunner reels...they are notorious for having clickers that are very quiet...you can achieve the same thing with a backed off drag, but the pain of that is that you have to re-adjust the drag to fight your fish...

Truly classic, and a lost art...most likely would fall on deaf ears if spoken today, and would probably would hasten a “huh??” response

What kinda lure is this. What might you catch with it. How do you fish it. Unscramble this lure maker. DOHDEN

That, my friend, is an original Fred Arbogast Hula Popper in a frog finish....I caught my very first largemouth bass on it in a little known ghetto park in Los Angeles known as Echo Park....he was 3.5 lbs and he inhaled it near the lily pads, and you can just imagine the excitement a 10 year old kid can have after saving up every penny to purchase it and have such success....that was in 1964, those were the days....

After my Dad died, I wound up with his old lures. I decided to put them in a display, they mean more to me that way than if I used them. Also, I'd feel like crap if I lost any of them on a snag or a broken line. It's hanging on the wall above my desk, I just thought I'd post a picture. In the bottom left corner are my Mom and Dad's last fishing licenses. My glasses fog up a bit when I look at those.

Nice display, and what a great way to honor and remember your dad...i’ve retired all my dad’s stuff, but I still fish with some of the rods and reels I built for him, and every time I do, it always brings back great memories of times we spent together....still have some of my mom’s fishing gear too, which evokes similar wonderful memories....

Has anyone tried throwing cooked shrimp as bait?

I do a lot of surfcasting and was thinking that maybe overcooking the shrimp so it gets rubbery might help it stay on the hook. Sometimes when you give the rod a good whip to get the bait out a good distance, raw/bait shrimp comes off. I thought maybe, cooked shrimp might stay on the hook better.

Anyone given this a try?

Have you heard of the egg loop knot? It’s easy to tie, info readily available on YouTube, and it’s utilized to keep baits on a hook that tend to disintegrate...it would probably solve your problem, and eliminate the scent issue altogether....

The only answer is what is comfy for you...I personally prefer left hand retrieve for spinners and right hand retrieve for conventionals, but that’s just how I was taught by my dad...it’s funny, because he was left handed, preferred conventional reels, and always had a right hand retrieve....I guess it’s because when he was a kid growing up in rural China, he broke his right hand pretty badly, and it healed without any real medical treatment, so he had to teach himself to be left handed...I guess the brain is still wired instinctively, but is willfully commanded to do what’s necessary, so that’s why he taught the way he did, and it just stuck with me....

Have you tried the original manufacturer, Shimano? The Spirex is still made, but in another iteration, but they may still have the part in their warehouse somewhere...anytime i’ve had to deal with them, they were always very generous and helpful...
