Well guys, one last time, out with the old and in with the new.
Something kept nudging me this morning so I went to my old honey hole.
Caught 1 Waleye, 22", but that was a nice way to end the year. Man did the fog roll in and it started to rain so I guess that was my que.
See y'all in the new year, God Bless everyone!!!!

Can't say I have ever seen anything like this.
What is the material around the "button"?
That's interesting. I know when my Dad passed away in 1976 I got all his stuff, there was a lot of old wooden plugs and some stuff he hand made out of metal, like spoons, which I never used.
When my son was old enough I passed the entire box on to him.
I'll do a little digging on the internet, I'll let you know if I find anything.

Did the same thing last winter. Had a lot of fun one my tying bench

That's awesome! That takes a lot of discipline and concentration. I've tried to do that but it just got overwhelming to me.
I picked up a guitar the year I retired and got pretty good at it, I practice every day.
I wish I had the patience to set down and make lures and jigs like that. Lord knows I would save myself some money.
Beautiful work there Sir!!!!

I use to trap, back in the 60's and in to the 70's until the price dropped out. Makes you miss those simpler time's.
Tried some new baits ot today, off the bank, I. Some calm water.
I didn't catch anything but the bait has some nice action. Maybe March when the water temperatures start pushing up it may be good to use.
Water temperature today was a little below 40.

I heard it's gonna get brutal out west.
A lot of wind and cool down here in Pa.
I have never ice fished but I'm up to try it - I need a tent, a heater, new rods, a sled to pull everything.......... I can hear My wife now!

Made a trip to the main branch Susquehanna river this morning, dark when I started out.
I had 1 on and lost him (Bass).
Is anyone else doing anything (just asking)?
There's ice in some of the eddies, not a lot though but it was chilly.
Took the 12 ga. along for kwackers, did jump a few but was more interested in the fish.
Hope you guys that are getting out are having better luck then me, to everyone else, Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year!!!!

Here's some of my "winter work" I'm still kinda fishn' in a way. I get clear blanks and airbrush them and epoxy them. Here's another TIP.. if you put rubber bands on the hooks like you see in some of my pictures you can put a bunch of lures in a container , reach in and pull one out without them hooking together. Dollar Tree sells very small but stretchy clear hair ties that work great . You just nip the band with clippers and hooks are free to go. Really helps in a box that gets alot of ruff handling and lures are mixed with different sizes.

Wow Andy, they are looking good, very good work!

Bassattacker, I was throwing 2.5” Keitech swing impacts in electric bluegill. It was way too windy to fish them on a 1/16 oz. jig so I used a slip bobber and put several split shot above the jig so the line would pull the slip float and stay at the desired depth at about 6 to 8 feet and reeled painstakingly slow. I certainly didn’t slam them but was pleased given the conditions.

Keitech makes good bait in my opinion.
Uses them alot, go through a lot of packages, but catching fish.

Beautiful mess of fish!!!!

Really, $65 is not a bad price

What scares me is the 7' rod. Let me think about it and I'll let you know this weekend.
I appreciate it.

That's good advice Andy.
I've heard that about those reels, but I think I would be in to trying One.
Never fished with braded line but I'm open.
Now that The last several seasons I've been catching some big fish (for me they're big), and I've lost a few, quite a few. I am constantly playing with the drag on the Zebco 33, but I do believe it's time for a change.
My biggest fear is casting back underneith stuff, I got that down pretty good, especially with the short rod.
Just wondering, do I need to go to the 6' + or can I stick with the short rods?

Think I'm going to find out before to long, now's the time to practice.

Thanks Andy for the good advice.
