I have this piece of tackle that I cannot identify or how to use it. I know it is at least 50 years old. It was in my father-in-law's table box. It measures 1 3/4 inches long. The black circle is 1/4 inch and has hole in the middle. It is one solid piece and does not come apart. Thanks for any assistance.

Could it be an old version of a fishfinder rig setup like the image in the picture with the pyramid sinker on it?

Looks like something else was attached behind the black circle. Curious.

I'm with you on that idea D. I molded alot of sinkers n jig heads. I have one mold for big sinkers. This looks similar to the inserts for them 👍🎣

It may assist in holding hackle while tying a fly.

Is that aluminum foil between the black plastic bead and does that bead rotate?

When my uncle passed away about ten years ago I inherited all his tackle. In one of his tackle boxes were several of these exact items. He kept his boat at Big Break in the delta for many years. He bait fished exclusively for stripers in the area. I don’t know want he used them for but I would guess that he used them , if he did , for his bait fishing setup. How or for what I have no clue. I have no idea what I did with them.
