Family is planning to go up to the Mackinac city area in July. Will be taking golf clubs and fishing equipment along was hoping someone from that area could point me to the best charters for salmon and trout fishing in either Huron or Lake Michigan. Also any good shore fishing spots for any species would be helpful and appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Our doe season came in today and since I didn’t get a buck I took a fat doe this afternoon. Made a decent shot at around 300 yards. Sorry no pictures

Very nice Mike that will make some fine table fare. Dad just gave me a grinder and jerky slicer attachment for Christmas so with muzzleloader coming in next few weeks I’m gonna have to buy another tag and go get me a doe so I can play w the new toy until it’s time to go fishing.

Saw 2 nice whitetail bucks at the Ukrainian National Home in NJ, this evening.

Nice looking bucks. I got a pic of this one but he’s busted his rack half off. I saw him the night I harvested a nice 9 pt and he had both sides then guess it was a rough rut lots of fights.

Wow he sure is a dandy I’m not real up to it w blacktails but that sure looks like a big one for that species. Is your hunting seasons over for deer

Black tails?

I thought that but I think it’s mule deer. I’ve only taken white tails which is all we have here in ohio but I’ve dreamed of taking some of those and those ears are huge on them

Drove to the muskingum this afternoon and had some fun. It had just quit raining when I got there only one other guy was there ( a friend of mine) he said he just got there. We caught several fish and some decent fish, sauger and saugeye. I started out with a jig and a minnow and was catching and then went to a twister tail fluorescent chartreuse. The biggest one was 19” saugeye not a giant but not bad.

Very nice mike and great eating size

Unfortunately I have to report that we caught zero fish today on our last trip. Lake wasn’t rough at all it was 36 at launch and water seemed to be around 40. We marked tons and tried every color we had but could not get any to eat. My buddy did give me a nice bag of fillets in exchange for doing a European mount on his 8 pt buck when we returned home. Can’t wait for the spring as I just got a bunch of acme jig types for the spring bite. Well got the skunk but hot to spend the day w friends and that’s what really matters and we made it back safely.

Great tribute and a great buck. I posted earlier about my son and I's elk hunt 10 days ago. He got his first bull elk at age 52. He has helped me harvest four bulls and we have gotten countless deer and cow elk through the years. We were so happy to check this off our bucket lists we didn't even try very hard to fill our cow and buck tags. One of the most memorable hunts of our lives. At age 78 it may be my last elk hunt but that's ok. We made a beautiful memory together and that is all that matters. Congrats to you and your dad for making a great memory. Randy

Yes sir that also is on my bucket list but w dads knees not sure we can make that happen. I read your posts and thought to myself what an amazing trip that must’ve been glad you got to experience it w your son. And no shame in not trying to fill other tags some of my best memories came from unfilled tags. Lots of people think it’s a fail if tags are unfilled but they don’t know the memories that were made during the quest to fill them . Just being outdoors w the ones you love is enough for me. Happy hunting

Want to share this with everyone on the stage this pic of my dad with his real nice ohio buck he took down this evening. This is the man that has made me what I am today he’s been there for me all my life teaching me everything he knows about the outdoors be it fishing hunting or just being a good human being. So fortunate to have him still out chasing deer with me at 71 years of age. It’s funny but it reminds me of him having to deal with me when I was a junior hunter. Anyways enjoy the pic and enjoy the outdoors it’s been a lifestyle for us.
