Darrin, I'm curious , is there a security issue around Treasure Island? Not being from SF area, just wondering why the light would bother anyone ? T I A ....

Probably I just thought it was funny because didn’t take but 5 minutes for officer to show up, how ever I fish around treasure island a lot lately and haven’t had problems or success on catching anything. Needless to say I will venture other spots to further my findings using a light on bay.

Hey I’m Darrin and I to also fish east bay ON MY BOAT. 12ft aluminum only with 8 hp Yamaha. Other night means wife went out by treasure island from alameda grand st. Thought I try fishing with a light a “real bright light” I mean really brite, so brite it made a halo about 20ft diameter around boat and water just glowed. But was a bit to much days the officer investigating this glow by treasure island, and made me turn it off. Didn’t get chance to see it work.
I’m not selling my boat but thought you should know that if you a glow it’s me.

When I was a kid we used to use velvets cheese or a dough bait made at home. Think that’s how power bait got started. Always worked

As for cohabit they are right. Trout out here bite best when it’s colder out but I have been known to still catch them year round. Try honkers bay and use very light tackle or try don castro even San Pablo reservoir.

I’m looking at another boat tomorrow evening and would like your help. It’s a 1989 Alumacraft 16-1/2’ modified V with a 40hp Merc and a trolling motor 28 pound. 2 pedestal seats and 2 regular seats. Steering wheel drive. Fish finder.
He’s asking $3500 obo. Does this sound like a good deal?

I always ask “why they selling it if it’s a good boat” or why did they purchase a new boat. Bottom line everyone has a reason to sell something more than likely something wrong either minor or major. Test drive it for at least hour and be sure it’s a cold start a lot of times they will warm it up before you see it not knowing it has a hard time starting
Thanks for your input. Any and all is welcome.

I have used either two piece rods or one piece and would hang them from the grab handles inside car and bungee them to handles works great from east bay to San Diego not a prob in a little Kia Soul.

Hey all, So my uncle is an avid fisherman and recently I've been getting into it too. Everything's going great, except his car is a little on the small side, so when we put the rods in the trunk, the tips are always shaking around and getting in my face in the passenger seat.

I've seen roof holders on Amazon that I guess I could save up for and get him but the ones I have seen are sitting around $200 and I was wondering if any of you small car owners have found a cheaper solution for this issue. Thanks!

Pretty sure that you can't be charged with "poaching" without evidence of harvest, as in "WHAT was it you supposedly poached ????"
Were it me, I would call a lawyer for clarification, particularly because you have a court date set, so it wasn't just intimidation on the part of the Fed, as has been known to

happen..... don't ask, lol......

gotta know for certain before you call his bluff, I was educated/lucky.

If pole was in water regardless if anything caught or even a hook on end of line it’s poaching. You meant to catch something and you obviously were fishing. But as for trespassing that is private property and game warden can’t make judgment on someone’s property because it’s legal to do as you will if it’s not public. Trespassing will stick for sure.

I grew up in N.J. and spent most of my summers and weekends fishing and hunting at a house my father built at Upper Greenwood Lake. After being discharged from the Army in '69 I wandered around a bit living in Aurora and Boulder Co., and Ames and Nevada Iowa. One Christmas my brother invited me to come visit him in Davis, Ca. where he was attending school. When I left Iowa it was 10 degrees, when I pulled into Davis there were oranges growing on peoples lawn. The East Bay has been my home ever since. I fish mostly San Pablo Res. for trout now (got two last week). I fished Amador for 10 years, Berryessa many years ago, and the East Bay shoreline from Oakland to Port Costa (the Berkeley Pier closing is a fishermans nightmare). I used to go out party boat salmon fishing 1-2 times a season, but I haven't been out in 5 years now.

Born raised in east bay and love it here. I currently live in Oakland and only 4 blocks from coast guard island. During pandemic I just been putting largest hook with either whole mud sucker or maker Alcatel and been getting kicks out of the size of stingrays I catch and release. Wingspan is average 4+ feet and one hell of a fight. Last year got a 5.5foot wing span and took 3 hours to tire it out before I could even see it. As I said just been for fun.
