I’m looking at another boat tomorrow evening and would like your help. It’s a 1989 Alumacraft 16-1/2’ modified V with a 40hp Merc and a trolling motor 28 pound. 2 pedestal seats and 2 regular seats. Steering wheel drive. Fish finder.
He’s asking $3500 obo. Does this sound like a good deal?

I always ask “why they selling it if it’s a good boat” or why did they purchase a new boat. Bottom line everyone has a reason to sell something more than likely something wrong either minor or major. Test drive it for at least hour and be sure it’s a cold start a lot of times they will warm it up before you see it not knowing it has a hard time starting

Hey all, So my uncle is an avid fisherman and recently I've been getting into it too. Everything's going great, except his car is a little on the small side, so when we put the rods in the trunk, the tips are always shaking around and getting in my face in the passenger seat.


I have used either two piece rods or one piece and would hang them from the grab handles inside car and bungee them to handles works great from east bay to San Diego not a prob in a little Kia Soul.
I've seen roof holders on Amazon that I guess I could save up for and get him but the ones I have seen are sitting around $200 and I was wondering if any of you small car owners have found a cheaper solution for this issue. Thanks!

I grew up in N.J. and spent most of my summers and weekends fishing and hunting at a house my father built at Upper Greenwood Lake. After being discharged from the Army in '69 I wandered around a bit living in Aurora and Boulder Co., and Ames and Nevada Iowa. One Christmas my brother invited me to come visit him in Davis, Ca. where he was attending school. When I left Iowa it was 10 degrees, when I pulled into Davis there were oranges growing on peoples lawn. The East Bay has been my home ever since. I fish mostly San Pablo Res. for trout now (got two last week). I fished Amador for 10 years, Berryessa many years ago, and the East Bay shoreline from Oakland to Port Costa (the Berkeley Pier closing is a fishermans nightmare). I used to go out party boat salmon fishing 1-2 times a season, but I haven't been out in 5 years now.
