RJS made no mention of the woman’s age, I remember a time when meeting a woman in a bar that didn’t have any teeth to hold some very definite pleasant possibilities should I feed her a few more drinks. I suppose I am alone in that.

I can see everyone’s point in this discussion. I was taught to shoot to terminate the threat, not scare, not injure, terminate. The same with self defense and home defense. That is why I don’t expose myself to threatening situations.

I believe my favorite has to be French Laundry in Yountville Cal. Although I was on expenses then my customers seemed as impressed as I was with the food.

Happened while perusing this morning. Thought I hit a wrong button. Didn't like it at first but now it's grown on me and I prefer it over the bland previous format.

Drag it thru the garden!

Ketchup not to be seen at a Chicago dog stand except on fries. Anything else is heresy for all over 6 years old.

That my friend is a dawg Chicago style. Mustard, onion, radioactive relish, tomato, celery salt, sport peppers, pickle, wrapped up with fries!

Best dawg in the world!

Try my burnt sweet potatoes! First they areNOT truly burnt. Slice up onions, fennel, and cube raw sweet potatoes. Coat liberally in LIGHT olive oil and into a 425 oven. Best to use a ceramic casserole. Bake until the edges of the sweets get just black not charred. Stir up once in awhile during the bake.

Back in the 80’s I was employed by a marine construction company. We were deepening the channel through the Columbia River bar. It so happened that out office trailer was a good 30 minutes run to the ocean upstream. Well we always set a few lines for salmon on the run in and out. The Cap’n of the workboat was a mountain of a guy 6’6” a good 275 of muscle and bone with a wild head of red hair and beard to match. As it happened one morning we had to shuttle a 90day wonder from the Corps of Engineers out to the site. First time on a boat let alone heading to the bar. I know there are members who can attest to just what a mean wicked bitch the bar can be sometime.

Well this newbie starts heaving his breakfast over the rail right off and we just left the dock. About half way out he was empty and we had two salmon on the rods. As it happens the first fish was ooozing eggs. And Cap pulls out his rigging and slices it open and motorboats in that roe. Extracting his face his beard is slimed and covered in roe and a big yellow smoke! LT ran to the rail did his best to see his gallbladder on the outside. We laughed about this for weeks!

Davgram59 is happy to join this group of passionate fisherman. I hope to exchange ideas and techniques for fishing northern Illinois rivers and lakes. I am particularly interested in smallmouth fishing, but enjoy catching all game fish!

Davgram59, having moved from Winfield two years ago I don’t think the DuPage has changed much. It primarily a runoff spillway, there are fish in it but it’s probably best to be catch and release. Road runoff and fertilizer runoff really doesn’t make fish taste good.
